To Kill a Mockingbird is a classic for a reason. I did find the second half much more enjoyable than the first

i had to read this for class, and to be honest, i didn't enjoy it. at all. i was told it would be the best book i'd have to read in high school, and now i'm dreading reading anything else.
don't get me wrong, the plot was great, the moral was great, the writing was great, and i thought the characters were great - i just didn't like it. i found the first few chapters were killing, they were so slow, and by the time i got to the good parts, it was too late. i was uninterested. once i loose interest, it's almost impossible to gain it back.
i think that a big part of me not liking this was that i was being forced to read it. had i picked it up myself, i probably would have liked it a lot better.

I listened to an audible version of this book and it was just what I needed to get into the story as a non-American. The voice actors southern drawl really set the context for me and I found it so enjoyable! Just wish boo and scout would've been friends by the end

I realized last year - amidst all the hype around the 50th anniversary of its publication - that I remembered virtually nothing about this book. So a re-read seemed in order. And it was AMAZING. Although I had a general sense where things were going, I couldn't put it down. I love the experience of re-reading something I haven't looked at since my teens, and getting to look at it with adult eyes - the change in perspective is often fascinating and enlightening.
