Believe I actually read this book for two separate classes in college at the same time? Made my life a tad easier.

This book is entirely tedious for the first third to a half. The writing is very droning and I thought three of the chapters could be consolidated into one. But once you got to a certain place, the story was moving and very symbolic. This would be a good book to abridge.

I feel as if I've wasted 16 lifetimes trying to read this colossal waste of paper.

So thankful to finally be done with this!! Really wasn't bad or anything (thus a decent rating), especially on a classics scale, but it definitely is not a book that you can sit down and read in a couple of sittings.

I enjoyed the story but the writing was a chalenge at times. I do not mean that I could not comprehend it but the sentences were too long. This made the book drag on.

This was a different read. It was really long and could have been shorter than the length 24 chapters. Things could have gone differently with more depth in the forbidden relationship, that’s why I felt like something was missing and I wanted more. I love full description but this was a little too much for my liking.

I highly recommend the audio book - it really helps to get past the writing style if you have the story read to you.
I'll be discussing this in my April Classics Wrap Up video

Some scenes most definitely did not need to be as long as they were. Some scenes didn't need to exist at all. But they did and they were. If you were to take them out, the book would have been so much better but as it is I don't regret reading it but I'm certainly glad to be done with it.
