Probably one of the best stand alone Coben's books I've read. Really liked the character, and what a twist and bitter sweet ending. Definitely recommend this one.
I didn’t care to find out what happens. I also couldn’t connect with the protagonist or her story.

The mystery works. I have heard others say Coben cheated with his surprise ending, that he didn’t play fair . I guess I agree, but the reveals happen so fast, it didn’t bother me in the moment as much as it does sitting here reflecting on it.
The main issue is the one note characters. It was completely forgettable. Maybe I’ve read enough beach-read thrillers for a while and I’m being too harsh. I think you’ll enjoy it for the most part if you choose to read it

I love thriller/suspense/mystery novels! This was my first Harlan Coben book and I can't wait to read another! Suspense, wonder, excitement, disappointment...all the things a good suspense novel should have! Loved it!

Auf Harlan Coben stieß ich erst, als er als Figur in Stephen Kings "The Outsider" auftrat. Da ich nur Gutes über ihn hörte, machte ich mich also ans Lesen eines seiner aktuellen Werke und es war durchaus ein sehr gutes Buch.
Besonders herauszuheben ist, dass überhaupt nicht klar wird, wie sich denn das Rätsel auflösen wird, bis die Offenlegung dann fast wie ein Plottwist herankommt. Ob man es früher erkennen hätte können oder ob der Autor nicht nur falsche Fährten gelegt, sondern sogar unverfroren falsche Aussagen in den Text gestellt hat, könnte ich jetzt nur verifizieren, indem ich es erneut lese - aber es blieb der Eindruck, dass das Ende deshalb nicht vorhersehbar war, weil die Schilderung den handelnden Personen auch falsche Emotionen und Gedanken beibrachte.
Sei es wie es sei, es ist nur ein Gefühl und ich bin zugegeben zu faul es nochmals zu lesen, aber es war insgesamt gut geschrieben, die Personen waren sehr schön gezeichnet und die Lösung ist dann doch sehr, sehr überraschend. Insgesamt hat es Spaß gemacht.
