Wow. Could not guess this. The twists were great. I really really enjoyed this book and the ending just, wow. I was trying so hard to figure things out. I really had no clue at all.

The in-depth workings and thoughts of Maya were great to read about. The writing style was really enjoyable and made for an easy read. It’s also a book I couldn’t put down once I got fully into, I had to know what happened, I needed answers!

Really enjoyed it and I’m thinking I might even give the show a go to see how the book/parts of the book will have been brought to life.

Love Harlan Coben books. Such a good author with fantastic story endings.

Maya a former special ops pilot sees her husband on a nanny cam she has at home. The only problem is he was murdered two weeks earlier.

This is a typical Harlan Corben novel in many ways. It's full of twists and turns and keeps you guessing. It's an entertaining read and a page turner. Sometimes I had to just read the next chapter to see what happened next. He knows how to keep the readers interest.

The ending however did involve a bit of slight of hand. It doesn't bear up to too close an inspection, but you have to be willing to take a few leaps of credulity with his novels anyway. But on the whole an entertaining read.

This is like a 3.5 or a 3.75. It’s not amazing but it’s a good story and mystery. Kind of convoluted but interesting. Not mind blowing but definitely good.

Good twist at the end, well worth reading.

Recommendation: This book kept me engaged from start to finish. When I finished the last page (a distant epilogue), I had a tear in my eye. There was nothing to give away the ending and my suspicions bounced back and forth between any number of characters. I even spent a lot of time creating my own personal spin (imaginary gay love affair resulting in a murder/suicide: check), without any input from the author/text. We read what we want right? I know I’ll read more of Coben when I stumble across them in the future!

My Response:This is one of those books where you have to wonder where people get their ideas from. I’ve read far creepier books and far more suspenseful books, but Coben’s way with slowly building up to a crescendo and crashing denouement is superb! I know how cliche it is but when I hear someone say they want to read a page turner this is the type of book I think of. I started this at lunch on Wednesday and finished Thursday afternoon, working two full eight-hour days!

As I said in my response to The Stranger, after receiving an advance copy of this from Dutton*, AND hearing my friends Hayley and Kennedy liked Coben, I bumped these up my list and they were totally worth it. I will most definitely be keeping an eye out for any of his other ridiculous number of novels next time I’m at the used book store or local library sale.

Twisty

Liked it overall. Convoluted, sometimes fanciful - but ultimately an entertaining read. Will definitely read more Harlan Coben I think.

Right after her husband's murder, Maya is determined to continue on and make a life for her and their two-year-old daughter. But when she sees something unexpected on her nanny-cam, she is forced to investigate. This was a fast-paced mystery with some big twists that I didn't see coming.
