The narrator was insufferable, but the plot did keep me turning the pages.
For a book that became a Netflix show, I just expected more. The book dragged in places, but the ending felt extremely rushed without all questions being answered.

So many twists and layers.
I thought the ending was ANOTHER twist but it wrapped up nicely.

Wouldn't have finished it if it wasn't for book club. Two stars bc the last 1/3 of the book did draw me in until it was revealed that Maya killed Joe. Such a stupid ending.
A decent Harlan Coben book. Some pretty good twists in it. . All in all, an enjoyable read.
I think because I've watched and loved the series for some reason I struggled getting into the book.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The story moves at a quick pace and held my interest. Maya was a character that somewhat confounded me. I could never really tell if I should like her or not. She is quite an enigma but I can't question her devotion to what she sees as the right thing to do. I absolutely loved the ending which surprised the heck out of me, I truly did not see it coming.
Maya suffers from PTSD and this quote really made me think about how I treat people I know that are suffering from mental illnesses.
"Doctors kept stressing that mental illness was the same as physical disease. Telling someone who was clinically depressed, for example, to shake it off and get out of the house was tantamount to telling a man with two broken legs to sprint across the room. That was all well and good in theory, but in practice, the stigma continued. "
