First time reading a book by Coben and it won’t be the last. This story was great. Fast paced and twisty. I thought I had guessed the ending but I didn’t (although I guessed a small part). Every twist seemed to make sense and the ending was not what I hoped but what it needed to be. I really wished to have known more about the characters. I feel like Coben wrote just enough to get you invested but not enough to give a better understanding of what made them the way they were. Money was a primary motivator within the story and I just didn’t buy it for everyone. There were certain characters that made questionable choices and there wasn’t really an explanation other than money. But the overall book was fantastic and I recommend for mystery /thriller readers for sure.

Verrassend einde

I struggled so hard to finish this one and it was one of the most challenging experiences I've ever been through. There were so many moments reminiscent of r/justbootthings. I've never felt more violent than listening to the audiobook and hearing the child's baby voice.

Most memorable quote: "It makes my tummy hurt when you lie to me." It was an unironic statement said by an adult.

Honestly, the plot wasn't horrible, but maybe just not for me... 2.5/5

WHAT?! That was my main thought when I finally got to the end of this book. I was on my toes throughout and I just could not put this down. I felt like the very end was unnecessary (you'll see what I mean if you read it, I don't want to spoil anything!) but other than that I really loved this book. If you're a fan of thrillers and James Patterson-esque books, you should definitely pick this up.
