I gave the first book in this series 4 stars. I thought it started slow and it didn't intrigue me as much as this one did! I could not put this book down. I intended to read a couple of her Christmas books (since it's Christmas time) before picking up the next book in this series.... but I can't wait to see what happens between Mark & Jo Marie. I thought this book left more open endings, making me want to read the next even more. I loved the romance in this one... so beautiful. I cried reading it! I love this book!
A pleasant, easy to read book - the second in a series - about a B & B owner who must come to terms with her husband's death. Her continuing story is intertwined with the stories of the guests at her inn. There's a faithful mutt, and a grouchy handyman...
It was an enjoyable read, but it was rather short to be considered a full-length (and full-priced!) book.

Rose Harbor in Bloom [Rose Harbor Series Book #2] by Debbie Macomber
Read March 2024
Rose Harbor in Bloom is a sweet, heartfelt romance. It involves many characters who stay at the Rose Harbor Inn and you get to see multiple peoples’ stories unfold in Cedar Cove. Love and many kisses!
*SPOILER WARNING* DO NOT READ REVIEW if you do not want to spoil little parts of the book.
Positive messages: 5/5
Love is expressed in different ways, forgiveness is always best, you should always have hope for the future and never give up, and no matter how sickly someone is, that doesn’t mean that you should stop loving them. These are just a few of the positive messages displayed throughout this novel. There are a few tiny negative messages, but mostly all positive.
Positive role models: 4/5
(Bad role model) Mary and George sleep together before marriage BUT (Good role model) Mary doesn’t kill her baby but instead gives her up for adoption. Characters forgive each other and love each other. They also fight for each other and never give up on love.
Drinking/Drugs: 1/5
Jo Marie is offered a glass of wine and asks Mark to have a glass of wine with her.
Language: 1/5
Jacka** is used once.
Violence and Gore: 0/5
None present.
Sex, Romance, and Nudity: 3/5
Characters kiss. Mary talks about the night that she found out she was pregnant with George's child (infers that they had sex before marriage). He asks why she wouldn’t marry him and she explains her situation with her baby, describes the abortion clinic and what she did with the baby. SPOILER The baby was given up for adoption, not killed. Geoge gives a hint to the time they slept together. Characters flirt with each other throughout the book. George asks Mary to move in with her and she says no.
What Parents Should Know:
Rose Harbor in Bloom is very closed-door and suitable for teens who are interested in easy-read romances. However, this book does discuss/hint to mature topics such as sex, kissing, abortion, etc. Overall amazing and very well written! Finished this book in two sittings and adored every minute of it. Very interesting, but not super educational. However, the positive role models and positive messages are very high and this book builds you up and makes you feel connected to the characters.
Age Range Recommendation: 14+ YA/A
Reading Level (by grade): 9th-12th

A nice, easy, heart-warming read.
Jo Marie is five months in to running her B&B, the Rose Harbour Inn. As she prepares for an open house she is also welcoming a full house of guests.
First to arrive is Mary who is battling cancer and has come to Cedar Cove as she wrestles with decisions made 19 years previously.
Next, Annie, who has been busy planning a 50th anniversary party for her grandparents. On her heals arrive her grandparents and their young neighbor who has driven them up and who Annie is not happy to see.
As the busy weekend progresses, Jo Marie receives a call from the military regarding her husband whose helicopter had gone down in Afghanistan a year ago.
It is an emotional weekend for all three ladies and one the reader is swept up in.
This is the second in the Rose Harbour series, but works well as a stand-alone read too. I look forward to reading more of the series.

This Rose Harbor series just might be my new favorite. I really love Jo Marie and Mark. I also enjoy the new characters that enter in the story through the B&B and how they are all interconnected with those in Cedar Cove. The only character I didn't like in this series was Mary Smith. Well, it's not so much that I didn't like her as I didn't like a lot of the choices she made in her life that became apparent throughout the story. She was not fair to George and has a strange way of showing that she loves someone.
Every time I read a Debbie Macomber novel it's like reconnecting with old friends. I was a huge fan of the Cedar Cove series and the Rose Harbor Inn series is just as good. I love all the characters and it's great when some of the original Cedar Cove characters pop up. I can't believe we have to wait a whole year for the next installment. Although her novels are classified as romance, I don't really see them as such. There was a little romance in this one (Annie and Oliver) but for me, they're just wonderful books about a group of people you feel like you know. They really are feel good books and they brighten my day. I will always be a Debbie Macomber fan.
