Ty & Zane are back. Ty is home from deployment. Ty & Zane are learning each other again. Deuce and Livi are finally getting married and they are having the wedding on an island in Scotland. Deuce asks Ty to bring one of his Recon buddies as added security. Nick & Kelly join the party. When a dead body is found on the beach things start heating up.
This is a terrific addition to one of my favorite series. There is a lot of laughter, sadness, mystery, action and love. I will never look at a tube of hydrocortisone cream the same again. I love these guys and hope to enjoy many more adventures with them.

Not my fave in the series but loved Nick and like how it's leading into a bigger picture.

Re-listened to audio 8 years later - removed 2 stars.

No spoilers.

1. I love Nick however, there was too much Nick in a book that’s supposed to be about Ty and Zane.

2. I was shocked at the number of inconsistencies? Not sure if that’s the word I want to use. Just to give you an example…if you’re not able to get cell phone coverage, you’re not going to be able to play a competitive game on your iPhone with another player. There were other plot line holes that were relationship based.

I liked Ty & Zane, and Nick & Kelly (I really love these two). but I find the main plot of this book and its development boring and extremely far-fetched.

Although a lot of reviews said this installment was lackluster, I found myself enjoying it every bit as I did the others in this series. While the romance was not as emotional as in other books, I considered that a good thing given the roller-coaster of feelings that the last book, Touch & Geaux, put me through.

In this book, Ty, Zane, Nick and Kelly attend Deacon and Olivia’s wedding and are charged with protecting their daughter, Amelia, from a suspected kidnapping. Abigail Roux introduces Nick and Kelly as a new couple in this book, and the two couples are treated as central characters. Nick and Kelly – and their relationship – get more priority in this installment than in previous ones in the series. Other than Ty and Zane navigating the waters of their relationship and its possible future after Ty’s return, the book focuses on the friendship between Ty and Nick. The conflicts that come up in this book seem to follow the aftermath of the revelations in Touch & Geaux, especially where Ty and Nick are concerned.

I liked the screen-time that Nick and Kelly get in the book. Nick is an interesting character and it was good to know more about him. Both Nick and Kelly adding a refreshing touch to the book with their interactions with other characters.

The mystery was not very compelling in this one. I think it’s because the stakes weren’t high enough. In older books, Ty, Zane or their relationship were in jeopardy. Here, it’s Ty’s niece – a character we meet for the first time here – and hence the suspenseful effect isn’t as gripping. The action was still fun to read though (as action is) and mostly took place in the latter half of the book.
Other than that, I enjoyed the book. The romance was lighter and had more fluff than feels, and there was a lot more witty-banter and funny moments than heart-wrenching ones. I liked this book because it felt like a breather for Ty and Zane – space for them to calm down and figure out where their lives were going. Nick and Kelly were cute too, so I’m considering reading more about their story. There were so many moments when I ‘aww’ed for Ty and Zane (and Nick and Kelly too) and laughed because of the dialogue and everybody’s antics.

A note about what I didn’t enjoy (this pertains to the whole series but was more glaringly obvious in this book):
1. Abigail Roux needs better female characters: As a female author, Roux does not have a strong female character who shows up often. Ty’s only close female relatives are Mara and Livi. Mara is portrayed as a strong female character, but this seems to be more because she raised Ty & Deacon to be strong men and that she can make the men in her family listen to her, even though they are intimidating characters rather than anything that Mara herself does.

Roux’s treatment of Livi in this book is laughable, and that’s if you’re not already offended (which I am, by the way). SPOILER ALERT (for the rest of this paragraph): So when Amelia is hiding, and Deacon/Deuce goes to look for her along with Ty, Livi wants to tag along. When Deuce protests, Olivia says that he can’t ask her to stay because she’s a girl. SHE POINTS THIS OUT. Which is good. Until you read the next two lines and watch as Livi, who had the guts to point out gender roles, suddenly decides that her fear of bugs is more important than saving her daughter while Deuce, who has a limp, suddenly doesn’t feel any pain because he’s fueled by love for his daughter Amelia. Can I say HELLO? Roux tried to be feminist and then threw that attempt in the trash so fast I had whiplash trying to follow that switch. God, what an insult to female characters everywhere. Even if Olivia wasn’t cut out to be a mother, deciding not to look for your daughter because of spiderwebs is not rational. And women are rational creatures. Ask Mary Wollstonecraft or Jane Austen (although they’re probably tossing and turning in their graves right now, so you might have to catch them later). Even Avery Kline, the one girl who was part of Stanton’s security team, threatened Olivia’s father and was cool for 0.5 seconds when she was being a villain (evil women characters are delicious because not all of us are pure, moral angels thanks) but then she was shot down and then called an idiot for reacting too quickly and being scared (BOOOO! BOOOO! *throws tomatoes*)

Zane doesn’t know a lot of women either. His wife, Becky may be the only one that qualifies, and she’s nothing but the perfect woman and the perfect wife who died so that Zane could have a tragic past so that he and Ty could twin. I get that is isn’t a story about women, but if you’re going to have women in the story, please don’t make them ALL airheads.

Second thing: The language. There have been several jokes in this book along about ADD, which is an actual mental illness that people suffer from and not just the butt of a bad joke. It’s insensitive and non-inclusive to make jokes about Attention Deficit Disorder. If you can’t be funny without attacking mental illnesses, don’t try.

Third thing: SPOILER ALERT. I know it was supposed to be funny, but Ty was slut-shaming Emma about her dress which is so not cool. Women should be allowed to wear what they want without being seen as sexual objects, so please, the next time a woman “shows some skin” leave her alone because her dress is not about others but herself.

Whew. All that being said, I recognize that Roux might have been unaware of the offense that she was giving. Hopefully, she is more prudent about these issues in the future.
All being said and done, microaggressions aside, this was an entertaining read and I can’t wait to see where the story goes next.

There was a lot that happened in this book, but if I'm going to be completely honest, I'm finding myself getting burned out with this series.

I love Ty and Zane. And I love that they are now finally showing how much they love each other in front of other people and don't care anymore if people know. But it's starting to feel like the drama is just needless at this point. It's the same thing over. Now we are 8 books into this series, and an old nemesis or guy that Zane was undercover with has come back and wants to harm everyone? Why has this been getting dragged on for the last couple of books??

And we had to do that to Burns? Really?? Ugh. I just am starting to feel like we need to give them all their happy ever after and move on. And I really do hate that I feel this way, because I've loved these two for a long time. I also love Nick and Kelly! So I hate that I'm getting to the point where I just need them to go out on a good note and not feel like it's just being dragged on.

Okay I need to calm down. *deep breath*

I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!! This book was AMAZING! Though I think that it was a bit confusing because you thought there was two guilty people at least but then all of the sudden it started to appear guilty people everywhere! Another thing is that there were a lot of characters in this one I forgot half the names of them though I suspected the right people. So yeah it was a bit confusing but I still loved it!

The beginning was so emotional I cried a bit because well
SpoilerTy and his team finally got back and when he reunited with Zane and Nick with Kelly it was so so so so sweet and adorable and I just couldn't handle it and cried

The mystery in this book was sooo good! I just couldn't stop reading because I wanted to know more clues more more more! The castle was amazing and creepy at the same time with all the secret passages.
It was really funny that Nick got itchy by being there
Spoilerand then Nikki(one of the guilty crew of this book that ends up dead) says the same thing and at first I really didn't noticed it but then Nick mentioned the itchy thing again and my brain made a CLICK I started to suspect her and I was right! yay
. In the middle of the book we learn the meaning of the title of the book and it makes sense but man those angels are creepy.

Ty
He's my favorite!!! I just love him so much!!!!! He suffered a bit in this book because of Nick
Spoiler and their problems I was really sad when they started to fight. They have such a beautiful friendship and I wasn't liking what I was seeing they were saying bad things about each at one point I thought they would end up mad at each it other.
, Zane
Spoiler Ty asked Zane to marry him and it was so funny because Zane just kept saying no. At the end Zane ended up saying YES! YAY :D
and last but not least
SpoilerRichard Burn was killed. I never liked him much or trust him but Ty loved him at one point he said he was like a father to him so when they were told that he was the one responsible for what was happening in the island I knew it wasn't true. Yeah I didn't trust the guy but he loved Ty and his family.

Zane
He was really sweet in this book. He was there for Ty, he was there for Nick. He was the strong one in this book. I love his relationship with Ty they're perfect for each other
SpoilerIn the end when it's discovered that de la Vega was the one responsible for what happened in the island and he did all that just to hurt Zane wow I was not expecting that.
So I'm afraid of what might happen in the next book.

Nick
I like him I really do but sometimes I want to punch him in face because I love Ty more and hurt him in this book so not cool. (okay they hurt each other but Nick was really mean) Nick and Kelly's relationship is awesome. I love them but Ty and Zane will always have that special space in my heart. It was really funny that Nick was always saying "I'm going to die in this island"

Kelly
When Kelly is in the picture I just laugh, he's so funny and I'm so glad Nick has someone like him beside him.
SpoilerWhen Nick told Ty about him and Kelly and he said that he loved him and the next thing it happens id Kelly walks in the room grabs Nick and kisses him and says I love you too then Zane is like I KNEW IT! ahahah it was a really funny scene

Btw I want to know more about the other Sidewinders I feel like I don't know them much and I don't like that feeling.

SpoilerOMG I was almost forgetting to say that when Ty and Zane mentioned adopting I totally freaked out and started to say : PLEASE ADOPT ME !! PLEASEEE!

So I absolutely loved the book! I can't wait to see more Ty and Zane!!
