If a book doesn't pull me in in the first 25 pages, it's out of here. This book is gone.

My least favorite of the Father Tim novels. It simply seemed to drag on forever.

DNF at 204. I tried so hard to like this book. I loved the rest of the series! But this one just dragged on and I never could get into it.

If not my favorite of the Mitford series, it is still satisfying and enjoyable. I love the Mitford's best though when all the familiar characters are involved. However, the gentle humor is still present as are the themes of love, forgiveness, and redemption that make me return.

I love the Mitford series! I am glad for the ways Karon comfortably expresses faith and responds to questions on faith and Christian belief.
This story has some fun twists and it is fun to have some new characters in a new setting.
A few things were tiresome for me in this book, which I partly listened to on CD and partly read as an ebook:
- I don't see where long stretches of "memory lane" as to the story (listing names of characters back in Mitford, or telling about former events or places)
- Karon has some favorite themes that are getting a bit overworked (orphaned or neglected youth finds love and acceptance/support)
Overall, a good read.

There was much I loved about this book. I had a hard time getting into the characters and storyline introduced in this book although I started reading it right during the time I moved Callie to Florida so it could have just been harder for me to focus in early in the book because of the move.

This was the first of 11 Jan Karon books that O didn’t really connect with. It didn’t feel part of the same series. Part of it was that the narrator was not John McDonough, who I’ve come to think of as the voice of Mitford. It just didn’t feel like the other books to me.

I enjoyed learning about Ireland and the Irish. However, it lacked the usual can't put down effect Jan Karon has traditionally had on me. I think I miss the town of Mitford itself, as a character.
