My Review

My gosh how I just loved Ivy and Sebastian. Those two really delivered a story that was both compelling, sexy, intense, and just plain sweet. Finally getting inside Ivy's head was a treat I just loved and Sebastian, who fits Ivy so perfectly, had my heart beating non-stop.

This series has been a wonder to read. Each one I have enjoyed, but I think this one and Chasing River are by far my favorite books in the series. It’s the characters of each book that really make the stories. Each one a unique and interesting individual and Ivy was no different. I really enjoyed her spunky attitude and loved her sarcastic nature. However, there really is much more to her than that. I loved seeing that she had such a vulnerable side. Getting such an in-depth view of her really made me love her even more.

And then there is Sebastian. What I loved about him is that he is kind of the opposite of Ivy. More of a stoic character, fierce, and very serious. But they are the same in some sense as well. I loved that he really shook Ivy’s world, he challenged her and made her feel things she hadn’t really felt before.

The growth in both characters was one factor I simply loved in the book. Each one finding something in each other that they needed and also discovered quite a bit about themselves. How they get tangled up in each other’s lives, now that was a fun thing to watch. It was both intense and enjoyable. Watching how that it all played out was wonderfully written and I was happy with where they were at the end of the book. And I have to talk about their chemistry! Sebastian and Ivy really had an instant and intense connection. I really felt the pull between them and I loved watching them together.

The book flowed beautifully and I loved how the story unfolded altogether. The character growth was well paced as well and developed to my liking. The dynamic between Sebastian and Ivy was a great contrast in the story. The ending was so sweet and I felt the series wrapped up so nicely.

All in all, Surviving Ice is definitely my second favorite in the series and a beautiful conclusion to this series.

I love this series, and Surviving Ice was a fantastic addition!

Ivy is different from the typical heroine and I loved her. She is complex; full of sass, walled in, and has an edge that if not careful could cut you deep.

Sebastian is a total hardcore dude. He can be scary but he's loyal. He's fierce and not someone to be trifled with.

Together they somehow work and I like that with each other is where they find the other side of who they are.

The thing that makes this storyline so captivating is the realness. The way Tucker takes something that could so easily be plucked from a real life news report and spins it into a fictional setting adding elements of love, betrayal and danger is nothing short of amazing.

From the first page you are pulled into Ivy and Sebastian's world and held hostage in a constant state of suspense, you won't want to put it down until the end.

I am still giggling from the last page of the book (That I happened to finish 5 days ago...) It was such an Ivy thing to do. I went out on a limb reading a NA from an author I never heard of, and starting it in the middle of a series. But I am glad to say that I really enjoyed Surviving Ice.

The biggest thing that stood out in this book is Ivy, her strength and the icy exterior that she built for herself. She is sassy, quick tongued and doesn't let others stand in the way of the things she wants. Some are qualities that most characters loose as they get close to the love interest, but I love that K.A. let Ivy keep the most important qualities about herself. We get to know about Sebastian's mission from the start, nothing is hidden from the reader. He is built, hot, and ex-military. As the reader, I wanted to hate Sebastian for lying to Ivy and the things he had to hide from her. But I couldn't.

Typically books with insta-lust bother me. I don't know why. It happens in real life too. But in this case it didn't. I think it was able to push the story along. Ivy wasn't the girl who likes to be wined and dined, so the whole "you're really hot, and I want to do you." thing worked. My only problem was the sex in Surviving Ice. It seemed very rushed, like it was only put in to mark some mile stone or because it had to be. Honestly, it was a bit of a let down. I expected a little more.

Overall I really enjoyed Surviving Ice. Sebastian and Ivy's easy banter, and romance was enjoyable to read about, and I wish there was more. This book can be read as a standalone (Which I did!) and not miss anything important!

I think this one is tied with Book #1 as my favorite. The opening scene is super intense. I was on the edge of my seat from the first paragraph. Which is where I pretty much stayed for the entire book. What I really like about this book and the entire series actually is that there's so much more going on other than the Hero and Heroine falling for each other. I really enjoyed the mystery and suspense. You'll definitely be disappointed if you're looking for a bodice ripper, because this definitely isn't one of those stories. This is a romance with a side of Jack Reacher and a dash of Jason Bourne.

really liked the setup but i think the finale could've been more fleshed out. it needed a few more chapters to unravel more convincingly in my opinion, however, it was still fun to read and i enjoyed spending time with ivy

By far my favorite in the series! Ivy is such a fun character! And I personally relayed to her more then any of the other female characters from the previous ones!
This whole series was great! And loved how each one was a different set of characters, but linked from the previous books!
Excellent series!

I am absolutely loving the Burying Water series by K.A. Tucker. Each book in the series is a standalone, but the characters are interconnected. I think what I love most about this series though is the fact that the characters are so diverse. Each story is so different, and yet they are all intense and captivating. K.A. Tucker has a way of making these characters and stories so real, and Surviving Ice was another fantastic and intense read that I just couldn't put down. Not only was it hard to put down, but I just flat out didn't want to. I was so invested in Ivy and Sebastian right from the start and that was a bit surprising to me since I wasn't the biggest fan of Ivy before this book.

Never finding someone or something to hold her in one place for long, Ivy has spent the last several years traveling the world. As a talented tattoo artist, she is capable of picking up and leaving whenever the mood strikes her. Just as she is finally starting to feel at home in one place though, she witnesses a terrible crime that sends her reeling. As she prepares to leave once again, a meeting with a complete stranger begins to change her mind. Ivy finds herself drawn to Sebastian, and the more she learns about him the more a connection grows. But what Ivy believes is random is actually something very different, and it is only a matter of time before she learns the truth.

I was surprised how much I love Ivy here. She was strong and edgy, artistic and really smart. I hadn't really cared for her as I said in the previous books, but I will admit that she did start to win me over a bit in Chasing River. I loved seeing her be able to hold her own, but I also really liked seeing underneath her facade. She was so much more than met the eye, and with everything that happened we really got to see a softer more vulnerable side to her. Sebastian was complicated and mysterious, and really sexy. I loved him from the start, even though I will admit that he was definitely not your good guy next door type of hero. He was lethal and determined to do whatever it was he needed to do to accomplish his job. I knew things would be a bit more gray here than black and white when it came to Sebastian and his involvement in Ivy's life, but I was so drawn to him and I couldn't help but want him and Ivy to work out. They had so much chemistry zipping between them from the very start, and you could see the sparks flying to the point that the explosion was inevitable. As much as Sebastian needed to stay away from her, it was obvious that it was impossible.

The thing I love most about this series besides just the unique and diverse characters though is the fact that these are so well balanced. They aren't just a romance or just suspense novels, but they are all of the above. I am never bored while reading a K.A. Tucker book, and this series is one of those that I would really recommend to anyone looking for a great all around story. There is enough action and mystery to keep you guessing, and enough romance to keep you invested in the characters and their relationship. Surviving Ice is one of those books that has so much going on that you just can't help but want to read it in one sitting. You know that the truth has to come out at some point and yet the closer Ivy and Sebastian grew the more you begin to really see just how much these two are getting to one another. I couldn't wait to find out what would happen, even knowing that it was bound to alter everything. I highly recommend this series and especially Surviving Ice. If you haven't read the previous books you definitely should, but you don't need to in order to enjoy this book. I really can't wait to see what K.A. Tucker writes next as she is a super talented writer that never disappoints.
