Ivy is a much sought after artist - tattoos, graffiti art, sketches. As a witness to her uncle's murder she's not safe. Enter Sebastian, the mercenary sent to find the evidence before the police does and destroy it, and Ivy.

Great book to wrap up the series with the most complex characters yet. And a real life story of men haunted by acts of war.

*I received a free ARC of Surviving Ice from Netgalley*

Surviving Ice was so intense, especially because it started right in the middle of the action - Ivy witnessed her uncle being killed, and she had to hide underneath a desk in order to stay undetected herself! If you have read the prior stories in Tucker's Burying Water series, you have already met Ivy - she comes across as distanced and quite abrasive, but there is a soft heart hiding deep inside of her. After her uncle's death, she is ready to be on the move again, even if just days before she had started thinking about putting down roots in San Fransisco. Being the legal executor of Ned's will makes sure she has to stay for a while, though, and when she meets Sebastian, she wonders if maybe San Fransisco isn't an OK place after all. This review was originally posted on (un)Conventional Bookviews

This is the last book in the Burying Water series. It's also my favorite of the series.

I love Ivy. She's tough, fierce, and independent. She's sassy and funny. She makes no apologies about who she is. Underneath that hard exterior is still a girl that has feelings (even if she can't exactly express them). I love that Ivy's personality didn't change when she started falling for Sebastian. She didn't lose her fierceness and turn into a puddle of drippy love goo. It's fantastic to see a character stay true to herself while falling for her love interest.

Speaking of love interest, Sebastian is a pretty great one. He's sexy and mysterious. He's guarded just like Ivy is. He's used to be alone and independent. And just like Ivy, Sebastian doesn't turn into a puddle of drippy love goo. He's a perfect fit for her and I loved them together.

The story was interesting, but it did feel a little slow sometimes. The great characters are enough to carry it through the slower times, though, so I wasn't put off by the slight lulls.

K. A. Tucker's work is still some of my favorite reading. Even though this is the end of this series, I hope to read more from her in the future.

I recieved a copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Blog Tour+Giveaway on *Milky Way of Books*

As the final book of this series of troubled men and women, "Survining Ice" is a strong, emotional read with two exploding characters. Ivy is the hard rock chica from the previous book who has returned to America and helps with her uncle's tattoo shop. After a horrible accident she will find herself trapped between secrets and a man who is not what he seems.

Not to spoil but Sebastian has a house in Greece. And I think ouzo hit him quite hard in the head. ;)
Anyway, the match between those two may look different but they have more in common than tattoos and brooding faces. I devoured the pages, wondering what was going to happen and I can tell you that Tucker doesn't disappoint!

As a final book, I was very satisfied, even if there is no appearance of the other characters. There is no need, Ivy and Sebastian fill the story perfectly.

K.A. Tucker has done it again! I loved Surviving Ice! Seeing Ivy grow some roots and settle down was definitely something I was not expecting and I knew it would take a unique guy to get to her fall in love. I couldn’t wait to see it happen.

I like this series because it resembles the Ten Tiny Breaths series in that we see characters and side characters finally get their chance to fall in love, but I also like how each book somehow deals with the dark side of crime in different ways. In the first two books, it was the Russian crime mob affecting the lives of the characters. In the third book, the IRA and rebels in Northern Ireland starred. I won’t give away the group involved in Surviving Ice, but I enjoyed that perspective and I thought it was well done. She really does her research to create a contemporary romance with dark ties that don’t seem outlandish or out of place.

K.A. Tucker got me to care about Ivy when she was one of the less likable characters I’d encountered, which is something she’s always been able to do with every one of books. I really enjoyed her point of view and her adventure. I liked Sebastian, too. He was a quiet stranger with a pretty dark secret. I enjoyed getting to know him and watching him reluctantly fall for Ivy just as much as she reluctantly fell for him. It was great.

I highly recommend Surviving Ice and all of K.A. Tucker’s books. She’s my go to contemporary author and I love reading just about everything she writes, even if the synopsis didn’t initially intrigue me. She writes well and gets me to care deeply about the characters.
