Premise was interesting from the synopsis but was very predictable and writing was just fine. I like Evren but Adara kind of annoyed me a little. Cliffhanger at the end was good

all I'm saying is if you give me 1) a morally gray man to fall in love with 2) a man to hate and 3) a bad bitch with powers I'm gonna read it. It's very similar to our beloved ACOTAR and From Blood and Ash but I'm still gonna read it because it's a comfort to know somewhat of what you are going to get from it. Don't get me wrong there were plenty of surprises in this book and I can't wait to read the next one.

“Whatever I am, it does not measure to you.”

Tell me how even when I know a betrayal is going to happen, this one STILL rocked me to my core 😩

I ate this book up like it was a French toast platter served as my final meal and I loved every second of it. I was immediately hooked on the story and honestly cannot wait to continue the series.

Adara is the perfect combination of naïve and strong. She makes mistakes but can also hold her own. Watching her fight for herself while everyone else only considers her for her power was just 🤌🏼

Evren was such a great morally grey character and the reveal at the end floored me. Throughout the whole book I told myself he was hiding something and definitely had my suspicions to what it was, but
was still shocked at the confirmation and how deep his betrayal went.

This was seriously such a fun quick read and truly proves that you don’t need to write a 500+ page book for it to be enjoyable. 10/10 would read again 🙂‍↕️

I know it's hard to find new plots in the romantasy genre and I can forgive that if there are good characters, world building or dialogue and this had none of those. Only finished as it was such a quick read, it felt bad to just give up.

Kindle Unlimited book.

4 ⭐ 'From Blood and Ash' Lite.

This is exactly the kind of book I was ravenous for at the beginning of 2021. I was tired of waiting for 'A Crown of Gilded Bones' and I kept rereading books #1 and #2 from FBAA like a sucker, since I felt like no other series really scratched that fantasy romance itch. I wished I'd have had this book back then.

Did it surprise me at any point? No. I could see the "twists" a mile away but, tbh, I was excited for them to come, and I kind of wished they'd had happened sooner. This book felt comforting, almost like a reread, and the only reason I can think of for that is because it felt almost like a retelling of 'From Blood and Ash', and I loved it. From the 'chosen one' heroine with a penchant to keep daggers in her person, who the royals insist she always dresses in white and refuse to acknowledge she has untapped powerful magic; to the 'slowing falling for the wrong guy who is tasked to keep her safe,
Spoiler takes her away through a dangerous forrest, takes her v!rg!nity in a random room during their travels only for her to immediately discover his betrayal right after'
plotline - this book was just familiar.

And I'm aware that for some people that might be a big no, but I kind of liked it. I certainly liked it the first time when I read FBAA and now, with slightly different characters and details, and with even more smut? Sign me up! I mean, seriously, there is a scene where the hero uses a book to get her off... You really can't get more bibliophile than that! And I'm always up for interesting props during smutty scenes, so 10/10 really.

If you're looking for a fun, entertaining and smutty fantasy romance - this is the book for you!
