A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows

A fast, steamy fantasy read that doesn’t go too deep in this first book, but still manages to hook you with its pacing and tension. The romance and spice are definitely the highlights, and while the story starts off feeling a bit familiar, the twist at the end was genuinely great—it pulled me in and made me want to dive straight into the next book.

Favorite Quotes:

“The stars may guide us, but it’s the shadows that shape us.”

“He tasted like danger, and I was starving for it.”

Not overly complex, but it delivers on the fantasy-romance promise—and ends strong enough to keep me turning pages.

Holly Renee’s books do seriously give me everything I want in a spicy fantasy romance book, all packed into an easy read that I may or may not have spent a Sunday night diving into it and finishing it in only two sittings…
I love how quick it is to read her writing, between the quality of the writing itself and the pace, and dammit, as frustrating as the ending was (we were on the verge of an “I love you” and them being happy, like come on

I was in the fantasy mood without the fantasy attention span and this literally fit perfectly

This book had me hooked! I loved how much Evren and Adara were attracted to each other. This was definitely a spicy book, hot damn there were defs some steamy parts but their connection is there, you can feel it.
That ending was wild though, I hadn’t suspected Evren of anything until they thought she was asleep. I really thought Evren wanted to escape with her and be with her truly, I did not see his other motive and I did not see that he was the Queens son. I thought it was just another vampire, but it makes sense his power.
I feel awful for Adara and what she has to go through, she now has lost someone she thought she loved and he turned off his emotions so fast, what the heck?
I hope that he shows his true side, that he truly cares for her or poor Adara will be forever alone.
