In this book we get Dahlia’s story and it is an utterly heartbreaking one. I was glad to see the dynamic between her, Jeff, and Carter even if it was hard to swallow the hurt they go through. Dahlia and Jeff have this soulmate connection and even though Carter has always been her friend when she realizes he wants more than friendship she knows in her heart who she wants, but she still had this one night with Carter which blew my mind. It was hard to read this story when we got Carter and April’s epic love story (book 1) because even thought we all have pasts its hard to see these characters be with someone else even if it occurred earlier in their life. Anyways this story was a good, emotional, read that will stay with me for a while.

I received this as an arc from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.

This was an emotional best friend’s brother romance. This could have been an amazing story but I’m just the type of reader who needs the HEA. But it was an achievement in itself that I became invested in the story at all seeing as I knew where it was going. The story was really well written and I really loved that.

This book. Wow. Just wow.
I fell in love with Carter in Pink and Country and I did not think that I could fall more in love with him and I did not think that my heart could hurt more for him. This book completely proved me wrong.
I loved learning more about Dahlia and knowing the way she felt for both Carter and Jeff and why she chose who she chose. I understood that not only did Carters heart break, but so did hers in so many ways too. She quickly became my girl crush for sure.
Now this brings me to Jeff. Oh Jeff. I LOVED reading about you and learning your story. I fell for him just as hard as I did Carter. But boy did my heart break into a million pieces even knowing what was coming.
The love these two shared (and the love the 3 of them had together) was by far the most precious and amazing gift anyone can give and receive.
You keep me wanting more and more and I can not wait to dive into the next book.
I might think I am ready for whatever roller coaster of emotions is coming, but I know that I will not.

An emotional and beautiful story! This book left me with so many emotions, I’m still recovering. Princess and Country is Dahlia and Jeff’s story. Even though I read Pink and Country and knew what was going to happen….I hit me hard. It is told in Dual POV and having Jeff’s perspective is what hit me the hardest. I’m going to say this here…..I do not cry while reading books. I may get emotional and choke up when reading but this book had tears running down my face.

Princess and Country spans across time beginning with Dahlia’s first public music performance at 7-years-old up to her decision to step away from the fame. Throughout the years, Jeff was always there to cheer for her and his brother, her best friend, Carter. Carter and Dahlia have a strong connection. I loved seeing and learning more about their friendship, they have a way of communicating without saying a word. Although Carter is in love with Dahlia, she doesn’t share his feelings and has feelings for the older Jeff. As teenagers, Jeff and Dahlia begin dating, which is romantically sweet. I loved seeing the evolution of their relationship from teenagers to young adults in their early twenties when Dahlia and Carter's music careers heightens. Seeking to find his place, Jeff enlists and is deployed while Dahlia and The Carter Hills Band go on a world tour. When he returns his experiences change him and they face real-life issues that we see them working through. One event tragically changes it all.

If you are looking for a gut wrenching emotional book, I recommend picking this one up as soon as possible. It can be read as a standalone, read before, or read after Pink and Country. If you want to be jolted, read this before Pink and Country.

After reading two previous books in the Carter Hills Band series by Emmanuele Snow, I knew I wanted to read more books by her. So when I got the opportunity to read ‘Princess and Country’, I was super excited and started reading as soon as possible.

In ‘Princess and Country’ we meet Dahlia and Jeff. We read a bit about Dahlia in the previous books, and I loved getting to know her story in this book. Dahlia has been best friends with Carter for years. She’s been to his house daily, and never did she really notice his brother Jeff much. That is until she is fifteen years old, and she suddenly starts to notice how handsome he is. But how can she love her best friends brother. Especially since she knows her best friends has had feelings for her forever.

Jeff has always been the handsome fun guy. His best friend is his younger brother Carter, and he loves spending time with him. But for the last few months being around him starts to get harder. Dahlia is always around him, his little brothers best friend and the girl he can’t stop thinking about.

Throughout this book we read about the starting relationship between Dahlia and Jeff, and the path their relationship took. A lot of time passes in this book. And although it’s not a very long read, it didn’t bother me that time flew by at times. I usually don’t like that in a read.. but it fitted this story perfectly and totally made sense.

‘Princess and Country’ is filled with romance, friendship, loss and heartbreaking moments. It kept me hooked from start till finish. And I really loved the connection between Dahlia and Jeff. There was something absolutely magical about those two.

I’m not a fan of love triangles whatsoever. And this book isn’t really a love triangle, but Carter has always loved Dahlia. And Dahlia and Jeff love Carter. It was hard for me to imagine how this book would go, and how I would like the ‘love triangle’ bit. But it worked perfectly in this book.

‘Princess and Country’ was a fun, romantic read that keeps you hooked. And it definitely has a twist for you that will make you want to cry and scream.

Princess and Country is the second full-length novel in the Carter Hills Band series. It follows Dahlia and Carter as they reached the top of the charts together at the same time they must deal with what their hearts want, trying to leave few broken pieces behind.

Princess and Country isn’t a fairytale. It’s a story of love, trust, grief, and hope that will tug at all your heartstrings and give you all the angst and feel a drama romance should.

All books in the series are standalone novels that can be read in any order. For a better experience, read in suggested order.

The moment I finished reading, I’m not even sure if I can count this as a romance book... I can’t sense an actual romantic attraction between the main characters (the combination of lust > love and telling > showing that is), the plot twist happened out of the blue, and the plot itself really feels all over the place. Not to mention the cheating trope and the accidental pregnancy without knowing who’s the father trope... No, just no. Even if I can get over these pet peeves of mine, I really don’t know how to react to this: first, Dahlia told Jeff that they don’t need a paternity test because she can “feel it in her heart” that Jeff is the father (okay, I get that this might be a metaphor, but this is lowkey cruel to another guy who LOVES her and MIGHT be the baby’s dad). Later on, when Jeff died, Dahlia thought about how “the baby deserves better than a dead father” and “she deserves better than becoming a widow” at Jeff’s funeral. I understand that she eventually have to move on, but when it is portrayed in this way, I can’t help but to question her love to Jeff. It’s like she just skipped through the whole grieving phase when she’s supposed to be so in love with this guy for years. Besides the plot, I feel like the writing can be improved as well. I’m okay with the time jumps, but I don’t think it really serves a purpose here. There’s no obvious relationship or character development in each time jumps. The portrayal of Jeff’s PTSD and Dahlia’s music career also tend to feel vague.
