While I would say I enjoyed this book as a whole, I do think it's weaker than the first book. It felt as if the last 100 pages were meant to be a whole different book, and honestly it probably could have been. Everything that happens in the last 100 pages feels very rushed and disconnected from the rest of the book. I had also hoped that Shiori might have learned to weild her magic a bit more in this one and that is very much not the case.

to say that i’m disappointed is an understatement hsshhshs

i realllyyyyy like the first book. i read it in one sitting i think it’s nearly flawless and i was definitely eager to dive in this second book but help. 😭☝🏻 it feels like a torture to force myself to read this book. i skimmed through it for the rest of idk half of the book? i want to dnf so bad but i still give it a chance…but yeah…..hmmmm….

the title of the book is ‘the dragon’s promise’ but why??? why is the dragon part is only like 40% of the book and the rest is like idkkkk shshshshs and i don’t see any importance for the book to continue w/o the pearl issue after shiori back on the land. yes that’s the last time i think the book is okay. after shiori is back on the land it was meh.

i want to like this book so bad…..so it’s really disappointing. so to make it better i will just pretend the book ended after seryu bid farewell to shiori (and yes the author did seryu dirty in this 😞 my boy deserves better) also…… idk why shiori is becoming more unbearable in this sec book idk idk 😭😭😭 it’s just like if you act less impulsive plus sit down and communicate everything would be less annoying 😁😁

so yeah overall a disappointing read. but at least it ended and i can read another book now 😃☝🏻🫶🏻

The Dragon's Promise is the sequel to Six Crimson Cranes and it follows Shiori as she enters the realm of the dragons.

Honestly, this book can't be compared to the first one. It felt like it didn't really have a plot most of the time, especially after the first chapters and when Shiori left the dragons. It was messy, boring, and necessarily long.

Also, for some reason Shiori got really annoying and acted like a spoiled princess, with her decisions being questionably idiotic. Moreover, the romance felt forced, like the author felt obliged to incert some romantic moments here and there in order to satisfy her audience.

Very disappointed with this one, unfortunately.

Not as good as book 1. I will reread the first, but I don't know that I'll read this one again. Fun read though! It felt like we reached the end three different times before we actually did
