Rarely is satire this smart; not only in it's bitingly funny commentary and cleverly conceived characters, but the plotting of the story is paced to perfection, and the themes and ideas are explored in depth without feeling like it draws you out of the experience. I can't wait to dive into more Discworld!

Poco se me ocurre añadir a la obra de Terry Pratchett que no se haya dicho ya. Esta novela es la primera de la saga de los guardias y es una delicia.
A los personajes que ya se conocen de otras sagas como el patricio Vetinari o el simiesco bibliotecario, en ésta se suman como protagonistas los miembros de la maltrecha guardia de la noche de la ciudad, donde sólo tienes dos opciones: o das caza a los criminales o llegas a viejo.
La historia es una conspiración clásica con dragones de por medio, reyezuelos, nobles y la tan buena sátira social a la que nos tiene acostumbrado el autor cuando la población es capaz de adorar a un dragón come-personas mientras que el nivel de sacrificio de vírgenes se mantenga dentro de unos límites aceptables.

I've been trying to read the Discworld books in order, but I think I'll take up the recommendation to read them by group. I love the witches and the City Watch gang were fun as well.
I got this audiobook for my husband and we read it together on our honeymoon! How magical <3
This is my second Discworld book. I read Monstrous Regiment in January and my husband said he wanted to move to the Night Watch series within Discworld so we picked this for our honeymoon trip!
We laughed so much throughout this book, several times we had to rewind the track to re-listen to those funny moments.
Pick this up if you want a fun story with British humour about the most competent-incomptent members of the Night Watch. Also, a human whos destined for greatness but knows nothing about the human world. And a dragon, lots of dragons!

Finally read the first book in my favourite Discworld series!
This might be one of my favorites of the Discworld series!! I love all of City Watch, but this one just holds a special place in my heart!
This was a good palette cleanser between more serious reads, but I remain content to only visit Discworld every few years. People talk about this book as being laugh-out-loud funny, and it just didn't do that for me.
