The sole reason why I read the Off Limits series is because of this book. I inhaled the first three of it because I really enjoyed the narrative and the plot of those books.
So when I started this one, I had so much hope because I've put it on a pedestal because of all the quotes and reviews of this book from TikTok, and I am happy that this book was not overhyped. It really lived up to my expectations.
As far as trope is concerned, I really love friends to lovers, first love, and second chances, and this book really delivered all those tropes.
It was longer than the first three books, and I appreciate that this was not rushed. As a reader, I really felt the longing and the agony of the male and female lead characters.
At first, I was hesitant because the timeline of the story was chronological; it started with the past, then went to the present. There's no back and forth but it was perfect as it is.
I enjoyed the pacing of this book. I love how it started when they were 16, and then there were another 2 years after, and then 5 years later again. The series of events really made sense to me.
To be honest, I really don't want to finish this book in under 24 hours because I want to feel it. I want to deep dive into the emotions of the characters, but I was really looking forward to them ending up together because of all the things and all the conflicts that happened between the characters so it was hard for me to put this down. I was rooting for both of them to succeed and to find each other.
As for the characters, I may have to eat my words because I said I love Adrian Astor, but I think for this series my favorite would be Silas Sinclair.
I read the Windsor series first, and my first impression of him was that he was so powerful and scary. I really thought he would be too broody and grumpy, but I was surprised when he was really a fluffy and lovable character. For a second, I thought he was like a mafia boss. He was every bit of the book boyfriend we all want for ourselves.
As for Alanna's character, she may have experienced amnesia, but her sense of self was really strong. She might be confused for half of this book, but she was very sensible and conscious of all her actions, and I like her for it.
Though, of course, it was a bit absurd to think that you would go for your ex-brother, but since this is a fictional character, I think it doesn't have to make sense.
I would say this book is very good movie material because of all the details it has. It made me giddy, and I was giggling and kicking my feet for the little details from this book, such as the paper cranes, the tree, and them putting those messages in the bottle.
I could definitely say that this book is my favorite from the Off Limits series, and it solidifies my fangirling with Catharina Maura.

I- I need to stop letting tiktok recommend books to me. This book was okay, maybe if I was 16, with a 16 year old mind frame and vocabulary I would’ve found it more entertaining…I think teen me would’ve loved this book. Adult me wants to toss the ebook in the bin.
ABOSULTE FIVE STAR READ

Major ick with age difference and “my love” “little girl”
I would do anything to go back and read this again for the first time. I loved every single thing about this book
This book was insanely stupid.
It should have been called Stupid Coincidences.
I couldn’t even begin to start to list the crazy soap opera things that happen in this book. I think I could have given it a higher rating if I felt the love between the character but they weren’t really fleshed out in any real way. They never felt real.
That being said I did finish reading the book, it’s a dumb soap opera. If that appeals to you, by all means read this. But it did not inspire me to read any other books by the author.

I think if I had not read The Wrong Bride first, I might have like this more. I like heavy angst books. But this was essentially the same plot as The Wrong Bride.
Toxic relationship with parents. Sibling love triangle. More angst in one book than a normal couple will go through. No faith in the partner, lot la of misunderstands. But after any conflict it’s instantly fine and they continue the relationship.
