This book is not a romance. The person who classified it as such was mistaken, and it was the first step to the ‘disaster’ that this book became.

I enjoyed the plot, but it was slow and long, filled with indecisions, miscommunication, trauma, and family drama.

There is no happy ending, so don’t expect one. However, you will find a fantastic description of Italy (Chivasso and Torino), a lot of unresolved family drama (which remained unresolved), and mental health struggles.

I’m not easily triggered, but I felt there could have been some kind of warning about drug use, abuse, and infidelity.

I listened to the audiobook partially, and the dual narration wasn’t bad, but I enjoyed the ebook experience more.

By the end of the book, the main characters had not developed at all. They both ended the same way they started.

If you’re a fan of reading stories about Italy, then you should definitely read this book.

I didn't find the story to have much substance. The attraction was purely sexual if I'm being honest, and the ending just seemed to prove me right. The major revelations in the plot gave little to no connection to the "love story" and it was all about their individual trauma and how it messed them growing up.
There was a lot of cursing and this book rates 3/5 in my spice scale.

I knew this would be angsty and I was fine with it, thinking this was romance and expected a HEA.

Theo and Magdalen are childhood friends and return to Italy to celebrate the Magdalen's sister's wedding. Magdalen has always had a crush on Theo and having Theo back brings all the feelings back.

Theo is a major asshole and treat Magdalen poorly. They are both pretty immature but I guess given their age, I get it but frustrating none the less. You learn of why Theo acts the way he does and felt there was no growth in his character.

The ending left me feeling underwhelmed.

I don't know if I missed this in the story but I dont know why Magdalen had an English accent in the narration. I know she is at school in Oxford but I would not think she would lose her Italian accent. Aside from that, Cam Wilder and Grace Blyth did bring out the angst in the story.

Thank you @readforeverpub @hachetteaudio for a copy of the book.

DNF at 16%

Between having to read that Theo was gone for seven years around 12 times within eight chapters, to having the F word appear multiple times on almost every page, to the sometimes clunky and awkward dialogue, I couldn't do it for another 400+ pages.

There is some promise in the descriptive writing that she may be able to refine in future novels, but yikes. This was not great and very obviously a book that happened because of the influence the author had on social media rather than any formal writing experience. Onto the next!

DNFd at almost 20%. I really wanted to like this but I was just so bored and I wasn’t interested enough in anything about this book to continue.

Dragging on for too long.  No long want to finish, lost interest in the story.  To much back and forth with little explanation
