This was a beautiful story that was constructed expertly.
It blended grief and loss with love and hope in a very humane way.
I've always been a sucker for the element of commonplace supernatural so that was a welcome surprise, and the way all the separate lives were weaved together by the end was very well done.
I do have one grievance though and that was the numerous and slightly unnecessary $64 words. While I love learning new words, they constantly pulled me out of the story world to grab a dictionary which became increasingly vexing.
Despite this the flow of the story ad the sentence structure was expertly crafted. So I can only guess that a lover of words forgot that not everyone will share the knowledge that comes with that love and that it can come across as pretentious when done to excess.
Beyond that I still enjoyed reading this book and at the end of the day that is what matters most.

I really enjoyed the premise of this book, and the writing was lovely. The two differemt timelines, plus the stories of the lost things about how they were lost and then found worked well together. I just found Laura to be a somewhat unsatisfactory character. Overall a quiet, gentle read.

Had promise but was too slow and disjointed. Hard to get through.

This was such a cute and happy book. I haven’t read a book like this one in a while. It was finding something special about items that going missing, but yet mean something years later. I never thought about things that way, so this book made me look at life and the items in my life differently. I really enjoyed this book! It is a great one!

This book was so dull, so boring. Don’t bother. I am not even sure I think the book had an redeemable qualities. What might have been cute/sweet feelings about everyone’s intense friendliness in this story just turned out cheesy or was coopted by disability porn about the neighbor girl with down’s syndrome who ended up with some kind of slight magical power that everyone had dismissed as quirky. Meh.

Lovely. Absolutely lovely. This is a perfect fall read. When you have some time on the weekend and want to curl up with a book but don’t want to think about it: read this book. Laura becomes the unknowing heir to her former employer’s home, and charged with continuing his life long passion. For years, he has gathered lost items and collected them in his home. In his will he asks that Laura reunite each lost item with its owner. An excellent cast of characters comes together in this heartwarming story of the things we have lost and our unlikely path back to them. •

Recommended for anyone looking for a lighthearted read or an easy read, wanting a laugh, or not wanting to think too hard about a book. If you found humor the no-nonsense language of Eleanor Oliphant, you will like this book.

Cute, but too predictable and with too many unrealistic happy endings.

This was a quick intriguing read after many books with serious social issues.

"I know it is likely that most of the things are worthless, and no one will want them back. But if you can make just one person happy, mend one broken heart by restoring to them what they have lost, then it will have all been worthwhile"

I read this book years ago and remember loving it. It hit differently now, it was just okay.  I love the idea that we are never truly lost and that items carry energy and stories that exist beyond the present moment. The pace was a little slow for me. Sunshine and all the puppies were easily my favorite characters.
