I loved both the characters. The yearning was wow and I am weak for a friends-to-lovers with hurt/comfort, a woman reclaiming her independence & sense of self. A young man with a trauma that would prevent anyone to ever believe in himself ever again but both having the courage to keep fighting, prevent each other from giving up.

I fell for Jasper’s way to move, care, tenderly help her. And then the smut took me so out of it, I got whiplash. Its the second book I read from Elsie & Cade and Willa made also perfect sense until their first smut scene.
It’s often crude and though its not my cup of tea, I’m not usually put off by it. Unless its performative & widely out of character, or like not making sense in where they are in their relationship. I wasnt as attached to Cade and Willa so I moved passed it (for them is that the first sex they have is something I don’t believe you would necessarily do with someone you are touching for the first time).
But Jasper’s degradation kink had me almost DNFing that book. I just stopped reading the smut scenes & was just so disappointing. I also don’t understand why Sloane liked it. Reading even 1% made me confused at what book actually was in my hands.
I really wanted Sloane to confront her father and continued first for Beau. But I dnf all the smut which .. is not the most important part but after all the yearning 😭😭😭😭 I am still starving.

Creo que esta ha sido la historia que menos me ha calado. De hecho es la que tengo más borrosa de todas.
Es cierto que el hecho de que ellos se conozcan de toda la vida y que sean en cierto sentido familia, pero no familia propiamente hace que tengan una conexión super especial.
Además, en este libro hay grande dosis de salseo, puesto que los primeros capítulos nos muestran a Sloane y como se da a la fuga de su propia boda, ayudada del hermano "adoptivo" Eaton, es decir, Jasper.
Jasper es jugador de hockey y aunque hacen referencia a un pasado un tanto trágico no es algo que se profundice ni cuenten para darle más profundidad al personaje. Yo, he echado un poco de menos que dijeran que había sido lo que había pasado en su juventud, para entenderle mejor, no porque su personaje lo necesite para entenderle y empatizar con él.
La manera en la que su relación poco a poco va evolucionando es muy tierna, pero se me ha quedado un poco corta la trama.

2.5 stars. The grammar mistakes are so prominent it’s like she was writing too fast bc she was embarrassed of what she was saying. If you gathered a list of embarrassing cringe quotes a high school teen boy could say to his crush then that makes up 75% of this book. I was looking forward to this book in the series the most and it fell so flat to me. I didn’t feel any chemistry between them as friends OR lovers to be honest. Don’t even get me started on that tattoo… NOOOOOO!!!!
I love a childhood friends to lovers but if my childhood friend came at me like this I would SPRINT the other way. I do understand why some people might like this book but it just wasn’t my cup of tea. Anyways, I’ll just leave you with these quotes that made me stop reading:
“My brain might be in bitch mode, but my heart? My heart is in slut mode.”

“Sloane.” His voice is authoritative, and that’s “The Daddy” voice, I decide. There’s a switch that gets flicked and he goes from quiet, aloof Jasper to that.
I can’t even explain this one it just sucked to endure.
