Tommy and Tuppence return to run a detective agency in their typical entertaining style.
“I can look after her all right, sir," said Tommy, at exactly the same minute as Tuppence said, "I can take care of myself.”
Young married couple T & T are tasked to front a detective agency, and they solve numerous cases, using the styles of classic detectives as they solve the investigations. For example, notable detectives like Sherlock Holmes and AC's own Hercule Poirot are involved.
"If you must be Sherlock Holmes," she observed, "I'll get you a nice little syringe and a bottle labelled Cocaine, but for God's sake leave that violin alone.”
Audiobook notes: Who knew Hugh Fraser would have the perfect voice for a drunk guy?

Good little adventure stories, especially aimed at middle school age group.
A fun collection of quick, mostly forgettable mini-mysteries consciously riffing on the styles of other contemporary mystery writers. Unfortunately, it's almost a hundred years later, so aside from Arthur Conan Doyle and Christie herself (and an extremely vague familiarity with Father Brown) most of the references here whiffed right by over my head. (Another consequence of the passage of time in the genre: one mystery involves a woman trying to win a bet involving having two rock-solid alibis at the same time. I immediately thought, well, surely twins would be too obvious a solution; the solution is in fact twins. This could never fly in 2021!)

This book was a mixed bag for me.
The first half was better and then the quality of the short stories declined for me.
The main setup and the characters, especially Tuppence, where my highlights!
I found myself to dislike Tommy towards the end, feeling I knew him less and less as his character became an amalgamation of the multiple "impersonations". On the other hand, Tuppence was fantastic in all her impersonations, and kept the unique sense of the character while doing them.

This was a good fun read, but probably my least favourite Christie I've read yet. A bunch of small mysteries solved by the amateur detective husband and wife team. Not a terrible book, but not entirely thrilling either. Entirely serviceable.
