"So I’d been knocked up by a rock star. Big deal."
The Stage Dive Series is one of those series that I make sure I am obligation-free on release day so I can dive into the next book (no pun intended!). To say that I was beyond excited to finally read Ben–the bearded wonder's–book is an understatement of the year. Ever since falling head over vagina in love with Mal in Play I have become a die hard of this series so it was safe to assume that Ben's book, being the final one, would be epic. Yet, the only epic feels I have are that I am epically underwhelmed.
"Each time he chose to not take things further with me, it hurt."
I am a sucker for oops-I-got-preggers stories. They are scary and angsty and everything that can go wrong usually does. I LIVE FOR THOSE. While Deep was angsty it wasn't always in a good way. My main issue was Ben and how clueless and spineless he was. Sure, when Lizzy let's him know that she is carrying his bun in the oven, he does the right thing by offering money and support etc. But I never felt like I got to really know him. He was kinda of just there and considering how strong Jimmy and Mal and David are in their own books, it was shocking. Plus Lizzy. I wanted to love Lizzy, but of all the leading ladies she was the weakest in character development as well. And the romance between them? Well it felt insta and forced. Especially the text message conversations. They were just so immature, I had a hard time believing that it was a conversation between adults.
"Sweetheart, you can have whatever the fuck you want, I promise. Whatever you need. No more holding back. No more fear.”
I could have overlooked the less than amorous feelings I had for Lizzy and Ben had the story been on point (and it was in the beginning) but it was so rushed. In fact, once things started falling into place and I found myself rooting for them I realized I was at 90%!!! I honestly was shocked that this book was THAT short, especially considering it was 1. The last book in this series 2. You involve a character/band that I'm pretty sure will be getting his own spinoff of this series and 3. IT'S THE LAST BOOK!!!! Despite this being my least favorite of all the Stage Dive novels I would gladly recommend this series as a whole because it's just that good.

I had a hard time rooting for Ben but really liked Lizzy. I mostly read this for the updates on Lena and Jimmy.
Finally finished this! Took me near enough the whole month bc of this stupid reading slump I'm in!
I didn't like this as much as the others in the series, but again I don't know whether that's just bc of this slump. I just didn't find that Ben and Lizzy connected how the other characters all did.

Meet my Lizzy:
I never really paid attention to Ben or Lizzy but I loved Mal and Anne and Jimmy and Lena's book so I was looking forward to this. I did like the beginning of this book with just being thrown into the midst of it.
Hmmmm....Well Ben was really annoying!! I just didn't like him. He was HOT but annoying. Like GROW up! He never learnt from his mistakes and Liz was a great girl but really???? REALLY??? you could have done better. Like, Vaughan for instance was kind of great! I'M SO HAPPY HE GETS A BOOOOOK!!!!!
I felt like she was a pushover when it came to Ben. She took what little scraps he'd give her and think he held affection for her.
I honestly just expected more from this book because of how much I liked the 2nd and 3rd one. This book felt really short too and maybe it was that I felt some things were rushed added to me not falling in love with this book. Mal totally saved this book with his jokes! Him and Anne were adorable as well as Jimmy and Lena!! They were cute! I wished we got some scenes in their perspectives!

Of course, him declaring his undying love for her on stage fixes everything!!! How??? After all the mixed signals you got from Ben????I honestly just expected more from this book because of how much I liked the 2nd and 3rd one. This one just didn't do it for me.
Igual me encariñé con el resto de los personajes, and are very dear to my heart.

Tiefe sucht man hier vergeblich.
