This was a 5 star read for me simply because of the development of Sloane, there’s nothing more empowering and reflective when a female character becomes confident in herself and starts to find her voice☺️. Absolutely loved Jasper too
Kind of didn’t expect his character to have a dominance kink, that was an added bonus
.  I really enjoyed this book, just like I have with all the chestnut springs books. I love all the little added bits about Harvey & the rest of the family we have grown to love.
Definitely the spiciest book of the series, but I loved that! It really fitted with the storyline and wasn’t too much.
. Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️  spice level 🌶️🌶️🌶️

The pacing in the beginning of the book is a little weird. So many things happen in those first fifty to one hundred pages. There were several scenes that struck me as strange throughout the book, like checking him out while he’s puking. Not my favorite read.

Okay, but not my favorite. Should have content warnings for briefly mentioned suicidal thinking and disordered eating.

This book would have been a solid 4 ⭐️ if it weren’t for a couple things. 1) Flashback narration was set apart by a jarring echo effect that was unpleasant and distracting. At first I thought there was something wrong with my device. It took a while to accept that it was actually intentional. 2) I really don’t like a man choking a woman or putting a hand on her throat forcefully during sex, even when it’s fully consensual. That is dangerous and, to me, deeply unsexy. Other than those elements, this was overall a satisfying friends-to-lovers story about two people learning to live authentically and reclaim their own power.

THE GOOD: This was my favourite book in the series so far. I liked the flashbacks to the past. Sloane and Jasper's banter was *chef's kiss* and I laughed out loud a lot. I love the bond between Summer, Willa, Sloane, and Winter. And Harvey is the best. I also loved the Christmas vibes in the last part of the book. I'm not ready for the end of this series and can't believe I'm on the second-to-last book and that the next book doesn't come out until September!

THE BAD: I don't like that Elsie Silver writes her male characters to be domineering. It gives me the ick. Also, this series is set in Canada and I wish more of the setting was incorporated into the story. I feel like the settings in books are a lot more descriptive when they're set in the U.S. And the way Sloane's dad spoke to her in the last few chapters was cringey and condescending and, again, gave me the ick.

3⭐️This should’ve been the best book in the series thus far. As a friends-to lovers story, it should’ve had the emotional development/connection that the previous books lacked. Instead it was the opposite. Both of the characters spend hundreds of pages in their heads thinking “Oh I am like madly in love with this person but there’s no way they’ll reciprocate. I can’t ruin this/lose them.” Yet you still don’t really know why they love each other so much. They drag on like this for a LONG time. It became very repetitive and by the end I wasn’t a fan of either of the characters. Also the storyline with the mmc’s brother was such an unnecessary downer. This book wasn’t the worst, but it sure wasn’t for me.
