I love this series. Elsie Silver is so good at making spicy romance novels also serious. All of her characters are so well rounded, and you really get to know what drives them and what holds them back. Also loved the found family in this book omg it gets me.

I wasn’t as in love with the leads in this book. I think that’s mostly bc childhood friends to lovers isn’t usually my jam, but I still had a good time reading :)

I’m excited to read Winter’s book when that comes out later this year!!

Elsie Silver does it again! She is so good at building relationships between well rounded characters. I loved Jasper and Sloane, they were characters you rooted for individually and together right from the start. I enjoyed seeing their relationship evolve as they became more vulnerable and honest with each other. It also can’t go without saying that this book is hot y’all! Honorable mention to the scenes with Willa and the rest of the Chesnut Springs and Gold Rush Ranch crews. I definitely would recommend this book. I can’t wait to continue with this series!

I read Powerless in one sitting. I couldn't help myself. Once I started, I couldn't stop because I was so into Jasper and Sloane falling in love. Their book was more of a slow burn than I was expecting. These friends who were slightly estranged at the beginning had a lot to work through to be together.

Sloane was a prima ballerina with some control issues -- and none of them are HER control issues. Everyone wants to control her, and she was getting tired of it. I loved how running away on what was supposed to be her wedding day was the catalyst she needed to change her life for the better. The more Sloane took control of her own life, the more I liked her. I have to say that Drunk Sloane might be my favorite Sloane.

Jasper was this hot shot hockey goalie who should have everything going for him except he had a past that plagued him and a friendship he wished could be more. He was somehow both confident and unsure. The mix suited him. He was easy to love for both me and Sloane. I especially loved him when he was defending Sloane.

Jasper and Sloane together were a mix of sweet and sexy. Like I said before, they had a lot to work through. I enjoyed their journey. They learned a lot about themselves and each other. Jasper was a more dominant than I expected. With Sloane's history being controlled, that could have been weird, but it actually worked really well. I wouldn't have minded a little more relationship development and a little less slow burn for Jasper and Sloane.

One of the best things about this book were all the supporting characters. There were so many great texts going around between different groups of characters. I especially loved the ones with Harvey or the Gold Rush girls and Sloane. Harvey cracked me up so much in this book! He also gave me one of the best scenes with Jasper. It was also fun to see our MCs interact with the Eaton family and their significant others. And I loved to hate Sloane's ex Sterling and her dad. They brought the conflict I loved to hate.

Powerless was a really fun read for me. I loved all of the characters, the romance, and the plot. It also made me laugh a bunch. I can't wait for Winter and Theo's book, but I'm also super excited for Beau's. They can't get here quick enough for me.
