Scary Stories for Young Foxes is just what the title leads you to believe. It is exciting and chilling and fun. I love the way the stories are connected to create a loosely flowing narrative and to give you a more complete view of Mia and Uly's world. A must-read for youngsters who love animal adventures and being scared.

Possible read-alikes: Series of Unfortunate Events, Watership Down (for those looking for more advanced), Gidwitz's Grimm series

I was delightfully surprised by this book! It was definitely “spooky,” but the storytelling was phenomenal and I couldn’t put it down!

Very well written with a writing style vaguely reminiscent of fairytale classics like the Grimm Brothers or Hans Christian Anderson. None of the stories seem pointless, many of them are great, and some of them are genuinely frightening. Also looks great on the shelf.

It was the most beautifully written children’s book that Logan and I have read together.

Wow. That was.. definitely something. I loved some things about it and I viscerally disliked other things about it. I bet this was a fascinating discussion around the Newbery table!

The title might say "scary" stories but it actually means pure, chilling, trigger worthy horror - and it's no less horror just because there are young fluffy foxes around. Fair warning.

On the other hand the young foxes part is absolutely true and just as fluffy and coming-of-age as you're imagining.

I also read it in a day - first book in a while.
For which: Thank you, Mr. Heidicker
