Es un libro muy bello, aunque triste (triste del tipo Bambi, supongo) y con muchas metáforas sobre la vida y el miedo para mentes jóvenes.

A nice enough spooky read. I liked that it explored more serious topics like abusive parental and family relationships.
I was expecting multiple short stories with new characters for each one, so I was a bit disappointed when it turned out to be one continuous narrative about two foxes.
The Beatrix Potter chapter was pretty bizarre. It felt like the author threw her in the story instead of just some random hunter because he doesn't like her.

Despite the title, I wasn't actually expecting it to be scary, but I was pretty unsettled! The real-world threats that fox kits encounter became almost supernatural from their perspective. Tension was maintained, but adult horror themes were avoided. The illustrations really add to the atmosphere.
Graphic: Animal cruelty, Animal death
Animal death: The first chapter is the worst it gets—not in the sense of "that's it," but the first chapter lets you know what the story is capable of. Three fox kits and an adult fox succumb to rabies. Later in the book, another kit dies, and an adult fox dies as well.
Animal injury: A lot of them, and they're described in detail.

Oh, this was deliciously creepy and an absolute delight to read. Some sort of gentle woodland horror, like Bambi with more teeth or Watership Down without the fascism. It was a beautiful blend of naive main characters in an unforgiving world with the dark knowledge of the reader who has context for things like rabies and traps and humans. Such an interesting blend of cruelty and beauty in the guise of spooky bedtime stories. I haven't really read anything like it and it was the perfect October read.
