The saga of the Fraser's with Brianna joining Claire and Jaime in America in order to warn them of future peril. Honestly, this was not my favorite Outlander book. The dynamic of Brianna and Jamie's relationship was mostly frustrating, as they butted heads too much and made Claire feel helpless divided. The book was full of upsetting mishaps that left me shaking my head at the characters poor choiced.

fast becoming my favourite series of books of all time!
Thus fourth installment was just as well-written and captivating as the previous three. The lack of a fifth star is completely my own doing as I really don’t identify with or care for Briana and Roger. Especially Roger. I just don’t really like him. He irritates me and I don’t buy his “devotion” to Bree. He should have stayed in his own time and let Bree fall in love with someone else. So, brilliant story, gorgeous setting, exciting and nail-biting plot twists and solid history. And, unfortunately, Roger.
Loved this story of Claire and Jamie with the additions of Brianna and Roger. Damn that Stephen Bonnet!
no. just no. what is wrong with Diana gabaldon that makes her feel the need to have every single one of her characters, male and female, get raped? and to describe all of the rapes in ridiculously excessive details? oh and then let's throw in some recklessly childish behavior and lots and lots of injustice and call it a novel. no. just no.
I am biased, but I love all of the books in this series.
Re-read to refresh my memory before watching season 4 of Outlander. Pretty good, but not as good as the previous books in the series. Having Jamie and Claire together for the whole story removes a lot of the narrative tension. Brianna and Roger's sub-plot is fairly boring -- many things happen to them, but they don't actively do much, and I'm not as invested in their relationship as I was with Jamie & Claire.
The adaptation of book #3 into season #3 fixed some problematic areas of the book, so hopefully the screenwriters will do the same with #4.

I'll continue with the series because I love Jamie and Claire. Gabaldon is a fabulous and descriptive storyteller. 3 stars because I can't stand Brianna or her story. She's the worst.
