Set in pre-Revolutionary War America, the story of Jamie and Claire continues. This book brings in Brianna and Roger as main characters. This book is as good as the previous books and I got completely caught up in the wonderful story again. I've read reviews that people didn't enjoy the love story between Brianna and Roger but I have not found that to be the case. Their story is different from Jamie and Claire's but that is what I enjoyed about it. I can't wait to read the next two.

I didn't find this book to be quite as engaging as the others, but it was still enjoyable and has me anxiously awaiting The Fiery Cross from the library!

Took me three years to finish...

I was disappointed in this book because I loved the three before it so much. The first 3, it only took me 200 pages at the very most for me to be completely absorbed and unable to put the books down to even sleep. But this one, it took nearly 600 pages for me to feel like it was starting to get interesting. And much to my dismay the feeling did not last. I struggled throught the last 100 pages as the story seemed to drag on unnecessarily. I really want to finish the series but after this book, I'm not apt to jump into the next 1000+ page story any time soon.

Reading other reviews of this book, I can see why people don't really care for Brianna. She didn't bother me that much, but her and Roger's story is nowhere near as captivating as Claire and Jamie's.

Gabaldon is a fantastic writer, but a terrible editor. Much of the plot of this book doesn’t happen until the 50% mark which I guess is fine if you’re already well versed with the characters.

I’ll probably continue the series, but I’m starting to lose interest.

Slow to start, but great finish
