I will see how I feel about it tomorrow and definitely write a review because I do have some things to say
It’s more 3.5 but leaning towards the 4. I enjoyed this book more than the previous 3. It certainly pulled on the heart strings and at the end left me in tears but not of sadness but with just overwhelming emotion. The only reason it’s 3.5 and not just a 4 is because I felt the book was much longer than it needed to be and in some parts the story was very slow and caused me to lose some interest.
I mean, it's a tome. Why must these books be so detailed? And why must I keep reading them if I feel like they are a slog at times? I don't know, but I can't stop. Now to take a break from Outlander and read something, anything else.

With the addition of characters Bri and Roger back into the mix, anyone who might've felt this series was getting stale was sorely wrong. With the addition of travelling to the Americas I got exposure to a history I had almost no experience with, similar to that of reading about the highlander history.
Always a good read.

huge amount of boring that is most of the middle of the book.
I love these characters and I love this story. I think Drums of Autumn meandered a bit with the plot and storyline. I like Brianna and Roger but it seems they have become the focus of this book and it makes me wonder again why Gabaldon decided to jump 20 years in the future with Dragonfly in Amber because Claire and Jamie lost so many years. I also had a little issue with how the narration kept jumping from 3rd person POV to first and back again. Many times I would have to stop and go back and read to realize we were in Claire's POV again.
But overall I'm in for the long haul with these books. They're fun and well written and yeah they have some issues but a great read.
