what beautiful writing, I fall more in love with it with each book. the beauty of warner and juliette as people and as a ship only adds more to it. the shatter me series is quickly climbing the ranks of my favorite books.

It is so action-packed and well-written that I couldn’t put it down. With every chapter, I read I got more invested in the plot and more curious about where it was all going.

The book starts with Juliette trying to learn how to control her powers and find her purpose in the Resistance, the group of Gifted people who decided to fight the Reestablishment.

Tahereh built this world where everyone is fighting for something. The Reestablishment is fighting to keep its grasp on the world and keep the global population humbled. The resistance group is fighting to save the world and create a space for people with special powers.
Adam is fighting for his little brother. The rest of the citizens and soldiers are in a continuous fight for survival. And Juliette is just starting to understand that she needs to stand up for herself.

Throughout this book, Juliette's friendship with Kenji grows and his role becomes bigger. He’s not just the person who trains her, but a friend she trusts. He’s not just the funny comic relief in the story, and I especially enjoyed seeing all the layers of his personality.

Warner comes back into the story, chasing after Juliette since she escaped his base, but so does his father, the true evil of the Reestablishment. We learn more about Warner, including some horrible details about his childhood and his training under his father, and just like Juliette, we’re moved and confused. He agrees to be taken to the Resistance after Juliette nearly kills his father.
Honestly, I loved every single interaction between Juliette and Warner. Each of them played a role and there was not one scene that didn’t convince me that Warner was endgame. He had to be.
His tattoos - Swoon. You cannot convince me that Juliette, innocent and inexperienced Juliette didn’t stare in awe. Absolutely.

This book introduced a few plot twists which elevated the story and brought more conflict - internal and external. It was fascinating how one plot twist could have such different results in multiple characters, leading them to existential crises, rash decisions, changes and lastly moving on to the next big thing.
Juliette had to make some tough decisions when she had to choose between her heart and the life of the one she loved, which showed she was far more mature than Adam. By the end of this book, Juliette is completely changed and ready to embrace who she is, which made me so proud of all her development within just two books.
