Literally doing insane amounts of mental gymnastics trying to understand the hype behind this series. These characters make me want to gouge my eyes out. Quite possibly the most irritating love triangle in history - like the world is literally on the brink of catastrophe and all Juliette does is run around in a catsuit crying and whining about her relationship. Where is the plot I literally can’t find it.

a bit of a filler book but does give very important context overall
i felt so bad for aaron when juliette said adam THAT MADE ME SO INSANELYYYY MAD but other than that this one was so good
Wow... The only negative thing I can say about this book is that it kept me from peacefully doing other activities; my thoughts were always with Juliette's story, and I couldn't wait to keep reading. The choice of words and writing style are unique, evoking feelings and images like few books before. My fear was that, due to the often-treated theme of dystopia, it would just conform to the cliché, but I couldn't have been more wrong. I can't wait to see how this emotional roller coaster will continue.
I personally think that the worst thing a book can be is boring, not terribly written or ridden with plot holes, the worst thing that a book can do is bore me. And let me tell you, despite being angry at this book for 4oo pages straight, I was still entertained. Every single decision the characters made was horrible and didn't make any sense at all. I can tell that Mafi is trying to add more lore to this whole "Energy" thing but it's still awful and doesn't make any sense whatsoever. She's still trying to use this whole "unreliable narrator thing " with some lines being crossed out, but Juliette isn't even journaling anymore, so like what's the point? I can still see that she's trying her hardest to use poetic and flowing language, but it's hit or miss now. It's gotten better I'll give her that! None of her characters are likable in the slightest, even her comic relief character sucks. There was an argument scene that was so horrid to read that it took me like an hour to get through it. I don't know why Warner is so convinced that Juliette could love her when he's done nothing but lie and kidnap her. Also nothing makes sense. Characters know things seemingly automatically, and no one's motivations align at all. This series is like she ate every single dystopian novel in existence, then threw them all up, sprinkled the throw up with glitter and served it fresh and piping hot. I can't wait to read the next book
