This felt so rushed! Nothing was really explored in depth. Conflicts weren’t really conflicts. Really would have loved to read more and in more detail, it’s such an interesting story. Excited for the next one.

I liked the first book, but this was a disappointing sequel and I don't think I'll be continuing in the series. The banter, when it's there, is still great, and I laughed a lot while reading the book. However, the amount of miscommunication (especially in the first half of the book) is ridiculous, and makes for a frustrating read. I could predict from the first few chapters what would happen in the next 100 pages, and that made this a bit of a chore to read (though it is still a very quick read). I was also more annoyed by the endless anachronisms this book than in the first (Flamel and Notre Dame indicate a 1300s setting which is at odds with the political structures of both England and France), especially when Emry was wearing a corset for some reason? Girl, you are 200 years early, why do you do this to yourself? I probably would've been fine with this book had I read it a few years ago though, so make of that what you will.

This was a really solid sequel to one of my favorite books from last year! It relied really heavily on the characters withholding information from each other, though, which isn’t my favorite thing. But overall really fun and I’m excited for the next book!

I think I loved the first book too much and had too high expectations for this one. It felt, at times, hastily written. Events and character growth from the first book seemed walked back. It was predictable and less fun than the first and also perhaps too many pov switches. Character choices seemed to come out of nowhere, and despite it all I'll probably still read the third book. Sigh, it had its moments, the gargoyle was hilarious but overall the things I liked were almost equal to the things I hated.

Kind of a letdown compared to B1, but I'm still down to continue.
