I enjoyed the ending to this novella; however, the events leading up to the finale seemed to be inconsistent with the character's personality. Up to this point Seth has never given any inclination that lack of sexual intimacy has bothered him. He even defend Georgina's past behavior, (Book 2, and honestly I'm not sure he should have) so for him to have any sort of doubt, or moment of weakness seems out of character. Do I think that this relationship could possibly have problems because they can't fornicate? Absolutely. But it seemed more like these events, were a product of stirring the pot rather than sincere moments of weakness and well, human behavior. We are all flawed and imperfect. But it felt like we we're going from zero to one-hundred here.

Another issue is, I do think Georgina is rather neglectful towards Seth. Yes, she is at demon jury duty but there were choices she made that I question. To be honest I can see her being a bit more aloof, so her choices seem more consistent with her character. For instance, there was a party she didn't have to go to that she went to, even though she should have made more of an effort to spend time with Seth considering their vacation was abruptly interrupted. Also, whenever she does something clearly in the wrong she completely dismisses it as is if it didn't happen. Seth brought this up in the second novel. If they don't have honesty, they don't have anything at all. So Georgina gets to essentially commit serious errors and not be held accountable? I'm not saying she wouldn't commit these mistakes, I'm saying she should at least be honest with Seth and hold herself to the same standards she holds Seth.

Which leads me to my final point. Jealously was inevitable in this series. And the actions that Georgina committed in order to "test" Seth, were unethical. I understand why she would feel insecure, and jealous (I'm not saying Seth was completely innocent) but she should have talked to him about it. Again, I can see Georgina doing this, but I will say a lack of accountability seems to be poor writing in this case. Unless it will be further discussed in the third novel. Regardless, I wasn't too fond of this novella. But if it ties to the plot in the third novel then, it can't be skipped.

Ugh the ending was terrible. I'm going to skulk now until book three comes in the mail.

I started the Georgina Kincaid series almost ten years ago, and while the books are slow in coming out the last few years they're still as fascinating as ever. Funny story, Georgina works in a bookstore with a coffee shop and has an addiction to white chocolate mochas. After seeing them mentioned over and over I decided to give them a try, and they're now my all time favorite Starbucks drink.

Georgina is a succubus, working for the archdemons of hell after selling her soul. She may be the only employee of all the evil that awaits us with any sense of her former humanity left. She's in love with Seth, a human who she refuses to be intimate with in order to avoid stealing his pieces of his soul. When her boss sends her to a sort of demon trial in his place, she realizes that her evil cohorts really care nothing for justice but are instead accepting the best bribe for their vote. While there, those who have cause to sway her opinion, use their influence to affect her relationship with Seth.

***Spoilers***
She eventually does the right thing, and only because of her are two somewhat innocent demons fate spared and the guilty party convicted. She wins a bet with one of them that Seth wouldn't stray, even though he doesn't have the ability to be with her. Prior to the bet, she was granted a few hours with Seth, no soul-sucking consequences, and passes that up to help free the two demons who were initially wrongly convicted. If I had one opportunity only to sleep with the love of my life, I don't know that I would have been so noble.. It was a little unrealistic because she could have taken that opportunity before she had even figured out what happened in the murder, but lost it to prove Seth's commitment to her. I hate that she missed out on that, but I suppose that since this is actually taking place between books two and three that would have messed up the story line.

I liked the trial scenes, I think everything with that was really cool. I think even full book worthy if there was more surrounding it, but I really didn’t like the Seth stuff. Not even telling him in the end felt wrong. It made me feel weird that their honesty promise was not held on either side by the end, so if the third book is going from this, they’ll definitely have some major problems

This defiantly took me some time to read but that how ebook format is for me when i forget i can read them on my computer and then just forget about them. I don't see how this book really added to the story line, but it is a entertaining read in it own rights. Now i gave it 3 stars cause even though i love mead's writing this story didn't grab me and keep me going i was able to completely forget about it for weeks at a time i didn't feel a need to read this and see how it ended, now that twist though i din't see it coming. to keep this short I think i'll go ahead and do a full review on this book on my blog

Woof, did not like this novella. Glad I was already a fan of the series and only discovered this new insert upon rereading, as this short story is not flattering to either Georgina or Seth, IMO. It does introduce some characters who appear later in the series, but I don't think this story was needed in general... Alas!
