The Comfort Book is a manual of reflections, philosophies, and wisdoms from author Matt Haig's own experience with mental health. Offering hope, and letting you know you're not alone.

I gifted myself a copy of The Comfort Book because Matt Haig's previous work had resonated with me, and his approach to talking openly about mental health is something I appreciate. This book is like a hug, oftentimes offering random tidbits of information, hope and encouragement. The fact the author so openly shares about his own journey with mental health makes this work so much more inviting and welcoming. True to its title, I found this book highly comforting.

This book may be little, but it's definitely powerful. A book I'll return to on the tough days. The magic is in the structure, for you can easily open to any page, taking what you need, and coming back time after time. And can I take a moment to appreciate the cover. It alone is a breath of fresh air. This would make a lovely gift for anyone who may be struggling or when you want to celebrate the miracle of being alive.

4.5 out of 5 stars.

There is something genuinely comforting about the simplicity of this book. I mean that in the very best way, because despite it talking through some tough topics and giving insight into very specific areas of philosophy, psychology and even a bit of history it never at any point felt overwhelming or that Matt Haig was just talking at me.

Sure, I wasn't really saying anything back but it felt like a well-needed conversation was happening within each of the little and bigger sections within this book.

It won't be for everyone, and not everyone is going to agree with some of the things in the book 100% but it is definitely worth it to take five or ten minutes from your day to just stop and ponder what is said on these pages.
