had a promising start but ultimately fell flat. maya and aisling's relationship was compelling to me and i think the author has a niche for writing lesbian yearning but there was too much telling in the later development of their relationship before they got together instead of showing. which is bizarre considering how short the book is. i appreciated the look into the effect abuse had on aisling but the sudden reasoning for why her mother treated her that way also fell flat because there was no prior indication of it. lastly the world just felt empty at times outside of maya and aisling and while I expect protags to be the most developed there should also be something more especially given that this was not solely a romance novel.

I read an ARC of this. I honestly didn’t love it. The writing was not great and I kept hoping both characters would come to some sort of realization and try to find help, but neither did and it wasn’t even clear how it ended. I suppose that could be a realistic portrayal of young adults in a relationship but it was not for me.

As someone in a lesbian relationship, who constantly overthinks and stresses, this hit really close to home. This book is a good read if you want to stress about the characters for an unexpected amount of the book, and if you’re in a wlw relationship, have anxiety or ptsd, prepare to sit and stare at the wall once you’ve finished reading <3

Such a sweet book, wish the ending was different plot wise, but loved how it tied in at the end either way. Deff one of my new favorites!!

i like ""technically"" finished it, but i skimmed SO MUCH that i can't even count it. genuinely SOOOO bad like so bad....reads like a Wattpad story from when i was 13. had to double/triple check i wasn't reading YA fiction. shallow characters, shallow plot. not fleshed out at all, completely one dimensional. basically everything works out perfectly the whole book, except her home life but it didn't even feel believable.... uses a million synonyms for the word said, describes every minute detail of each characters day (i brushed my hair, pulling it into a ponytail, before spritzing myself with perfume and then going to the door to get my shoes BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH)......UUUUGGGGHHHH like i can't believe i read past pg 50, i must've been so out of my mind tired i wasnt processing. OK sorry for the TIRADE (& kinda feel bad if the author ever read this like i know she must've tried damn hard) but i had to RAAANNNTTT why did the library put this up front in BESTSELLERS im sick

This book feels basic like I could’ve written it myself. I prefer prettier prose, but even the story line and dialogue was very simple. Easy ready but also a bit boring. I just felt unfulfilled. Not bad but I wouldn’t recommend it. As a girl who also broke up with her boyfriend for a girl, it didn’t hit the way I wanted to. End U-Haul lesbianism!!!!

i knew they wouldnt be together at the end otherwise this wouldve been marked romance lol. also did Not like how it was a "you cant tell whos pov this is" moment at the end, i HATE ambiguity. but im also not invested enough to speculate who left who
