A blatant kid-friendly version of the lord of the rings that often made me think about the word “plagiarism”... Getting over that statement though, it was a simple enough read but found myself getting confused/lost often with all of the expository lore and names that would arise and then not be brought up again.
This book is 2/3 a hide and seek story that very slowly gets to the meat and potatoes and when it finally does get there, it ends super quickly as to act as a poor cliffhanger for what’s in the next book.

The world that Paolini created is a wondrous yet familiar one that I’m looking forward to exploring more with the rest of the series as there is so much potential. I just hope that the characters are given much more depth!

All of the above being said, when I saw Paolini’s photo at the back of the dust jacket, I was surprised to see how young he looked. So I googled him andddd he started writing the book at the age of 15 and self-published it at 19. That feat/fact alone makes me excited to get into his later books to see how he’s grown as a writer and what he can do with his characters.

Kolejna koszmarna rzecz, to powielanie motywów. Można tę "książkę" streścić w ten sposób: Gwiezdne Wojny ze smokami. Z domieszką Smoczych Jeźdźców z Pern, Diuny, Władcy Pierścieni, twórczości pani Le Guin i paru innych... Jeszcze żeby Paolini robił to dobrze - gdzie tam.
Język kuleje, patos wylewa się takim strumieniem, że trzeba toto czytać w gumiakach, żeby nóg nie zmoczyć.

a shocking amount of sexual tension between Eragon and the dragon. Was that on purpose?

Very dense book to get through - might go back when feeling up to tacking it

Really fun. Forgot how wonderful the world-building was. Loved it.
