Style greater than substance, the title gives a hint that substance isn't going to be a priority with this one. Confused and weird, the characters have some possibilities - well perhaps not child Loki. Kate continues to be interesting as Hawkeye, and Wiccan is interesting. But all in all not as good as I would hope.
Everyone was right about it of course. At first I thought it was trying too hard to be for the ~youths~: they used the word problematic twice in 4 pages, "tumblr" etc. but then it got going and it was awesome. All the characters are great and the plot was funny (parents just don't understand!) but thrilling (goop hands!). Comixology sale on Vol 1 probably won't save me any money when I buy all of them.

This reread has reopened the rabbit hole that Young Avengers and comics had on me.
I am so close to just buying the whole series and other comics as well

I'm intrigued. I love America and Billy, but I'm not sure about the rest. But I'm ready to read more.
Fantastic artwork, interesting and oddball story, I will definitely keep reading.

not bad! there's been some changes in the line up since the last time i was reading young avengers but nothing too tough to follow. i thought mcckelvie's experiments with layout were interesting though occasionally i wished he'd tone it down in favour of readibility. 3 stars
After reading the 2005 run of Young Avengers, it was fun to see how these characters were updated and brought in here! The dynamic between Wiccan and his powers takes center stage as the Young Avengers work to thwart the interdimensional parasite Mother... after Wiccan's botched summoning of his boyfriend, Hulkling's, mother from another timestream. A classic multidimensional Marvel adventure ensues, with plenty of interpersonal drama as the team works with a child (then teenaged) Loki, trying to figure out the motives of an elder god. The humor, warmth, and team dynamics in this are fun!
