4.13 AVERAGE

update: I had so much fun reading this for a second time. This comic can get a tad bit over-dramatic at points but I still love it.

---2016---
This was so so so good! I need the next one right away because although this was short I am already in love with all the characters and I need to know what happens next!

*Edit*
Reread in February 2019 before reading the rest of this series. See below.

*original review*
I already knew and adored America from A-Force and when I found out that Billy and Teddy were in this comic too, I was even more excited to read it. Then when I started I found out that Kate Bishop was in here too and I was so thrilled.

Anyway, liked it a lot, had a blast with it, and am looking forward to continuing the series.

An action packed start to the series, but not the easiest volume to read if you’re not as familiar with the characters. Would’ve liked some calmer moments, but I understand they will probably come later

This volume was so good! I liked it even more than the first run of Young Avengers. The art is bold and modern, the storyline is fun and fast paced (the double spread 'numbered floor plan' and 'white boxes of nothingness' pages were genius) and the characters were quirky but real (well, as real as a shape shifting Kree / Skrull hybrid can be...) and enjoyable to read about.

If you want all the fun of a teen dramedy, wrapped up in a nice, tasty Marvel bun, then this is definitely the series for you
adventurous funny lighthearted fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

"Come with me if you want to be awesome."

Great team, good villain. Gillen and McKelvie are one of my favorite duos on Wic + Div and they play off each other amazingly on this trade as well. If I have a gripe? America's head is copy pasted from Laura in Wic + Div.

Great first volume! I love kid Loki! The Avengers sneak peak panels are funny. I am impressed of the relationship between the Hulking and Billy. They. Are. So. Cute.

I came to this story to see the beautiful artwork of Jamie McKelvie and was pleasantly surprised with a great story by Kieron Gillen. I can tell that any future issues/trades are going to continue to confront teen issues and actually let teens be truly represented in the robust light they deserve. You do have some dumb superhero names but hey you can't win them all.

America

OH MY GOD THIS IS SO AWESOME
