Okay… I’m lowkey disappointed ☹️ I jumped into this second book right after the first one because that cliffhanger had me by the throat—but now I’m just sitting here like… was that it?

I actually liked this one a bit more than book one, mainly because I needed answers. I wanted to unravel the mystery behind Hayden’s mom’s death and dive deeper into Calista’s trauma. But y’all… something didn’t hit right. I wasn’t completely sold.

There were some serious plot holes, and honestly? Callie forgave Hayden way too easily. Like… the man’s go-to move is abduction. AGAIN. Sir?? Why is kidnapping your love language?? Make it make sense 😭😭😭

And Callie?? Girl, I need you to wake up! I get it, love makes us blind, but Hayden was waving all kinds of red flags and she was just out here dancing in the danger zone like it’s cute. Spoiler alert: it’s not. Shady behavior isn’t romance, babe.

So yeah, I’m a bit let down. But plot twist? I still couldn’t stop reading. I devoured the whole book without taking a break. Am I okay? Probably not. But here we are.

After reading the first book, I was eager to witness the evolution of Calista and Hayden's relationship. Calista uncovers the identity of her stalker, which deepens her connection with Hayden. He embodies strong morals and a belief in justice, yet his desire to protect her drives him even further. As the truth unfolds, Calista begins to question everything she has known. Ultimately, Hayden is unwavering in his commitment to pursue and shield her at any cost.

This was a remarkable read. The characters resonate deeply, especially for those who appreciate darker romances. While I felt the story could have been enhanced with a few more supporting friends, the plot flows smoothly and is engaging. Some moments in the middle could be strengthened, but overall, it remains a captivating, spicy, and dark read.

This book and the entire duology had me hooked! Took me longer than I’d hoped to finish it, due to work, but I finally finished it! The chemistry between Calista and Hayden is amazing, the spice is amazing, and the suspense is also amazing. This entire duology is a 5 star read :)
