Some of the best X-Files fan fiction I’ve read. Hopefully the next one will be as wonderfully cheesy as this one.
The owls may indeed not be what they seem, but they serve an imperative function: they remind us to look into the darkness
I am not adding this one to my reading challenge because I didn't read it cover to cover. Some of the Lewis and Clark stuff and government conspiracy were too dry for me. I enjoyed the parts in the middle the most. I loved how much of it ties to the new season! I think this book is a must for any die hard Twin Peaks fan!
so amazing i just wish i had the physical copy so i could refer back to it. loved listening to it with the actors though.
Spends far more time on rabbit trails, red herons, and various conspiracy theories than it does on anything interesting. Fundamentally overly prone to trying to fill in gaps that didn’t need to be filled, giving backstories when they were not needed, contradicting the series and movie more than it should. I really wanted to like this, but it feels far more like the writings of someone who thinks Marilyn Monroe was murdered by the Kennedy’s, believes alien conspiracy theories, and so on than it does a twin peaks book. The audiobook narration is definitely the best part of this. There’s times where it has my attention but it is so focused on rabbit trails into Lewis and Clark and UFOs and being far too analytical instead of relying of the mystery and surrealism that I love about the show/movie. Can’t recall a single time it focused on anything I was all that interested in for more than a few minutes, unfortunately. I wanted to like this so badly, but it’s just not my brand of Twin Peaks. I get a lot more out of Lynch’s side of things than Frost’s.
I had difficulty getting through this when reading the print version, as it reads like a history book packed full of first person accounts. So I tried it on audio and was sucked in.
I enjoyed reading about the historical connection between Twin Peaks and famous figures such as Lewis & Clark and Chief Joseph. I appreciated the detailed backstory of some of the characters as well including Josie Packard, Dr. Jacoby, the Log Lady, Norma Jennings, Big Ed, Hank Jennings, Major Garland Briggs, and more.
I did find the extensive backstory on Douglas (Dougie) Milford interesting, but it was packed full of so many conspiracy theories that I was a bit turned off. Also, I refused to read Nixon as a sympathetic character....

Very different than I expected, and I had no idea what to expect.
slow-paced
This was very disappointing and a complete waste of time. There was nothing in here that added to the TV series.
It is clear that David Lynch carried the majority of the creative load for Twin Peaks.
