5* par noformējumu, 2* par saturu. Pārāk daudz par citplanētiešiem, pārāk maz par to esību vietējos mežos un tā ietekmi uz pilsētiņas dzīvi.
Turns out it's been a long time since I watched the TV show.
To start off with, I haven't watched the TV series that this is based on, so that's part of the issue... But I feel like a book like this should be accessible to people who haven't watched the series. I hope to watch the TV series now and see if that improves my opinion of this book, but we'll see. I was a bit disappointed by how I felt about this book, I had high expectations. First of all, I LOVE books written in this format. It's so interesting and fun, I wish more books were written like this! My qualm was the amount of rambling spent on aliens and little details. This book was pretty slow-paced and hard to continue at times. It also felt pretty scattered in how it bounced back and forth, but I think Mark Frost knew that because he would reference the way a person was first mentioned later in the book so you could keep up. Personally, I don't really like having to scrape my mind to remember details like that, but I guess that could vary from person to person. Furthermore, a lot of the side tangents in this book, especially towards the end, don't make a ton of sense for the storyline. The ending was pretty anticlimactic as well, I feel like there could have been some twist with the archivist being one of the aliens or being hired by one of the aliens to cause more confusion. Overall, a good book, but I'm not super impressed, it had a lot of potential and didn't take advantage of it.

This is a fun document laying the groundwork for the new Twin Peaks series. It doesn't quite stand on its own as a novel, but it's definitely essential reading for fans of the series. If you haven't ever watched Twin Peaks, be aware that this will spoil the original series for you. My advice in consuming the various properties is as follows:
Original two seasons of Twin Peaks
Fire Walk With Me
The Diary of Laura Palmer
The Secret History of Twin Peaks

On the one hand, I think the mythos of the show would have been more impactful without this. On the other hand, people having been begging for answers for 25 years. But I can't help but feel the stuff brought up in this book won't tie into the show, at least the way it's going now.
It's interesting, although the UFO stuff is way too drawn out and a lot of the dialogue is pretty rough.
