Review is for Carol of the Bells by Maria Luis

I absolutely loved Laela & Reid's story and Maria Luis did an amazing job in telling it despite the short nature of it. Hot hot hot!!!!

This review is just for “O Holy Night,” the novella to “Lessons in Sin” by Pam Godwin.

I am not mad at this novella one little bit! I really loved the bonus content we got to see with Magnus and Tinsley. God, their dynamic and chemistry burns like an inferno and simultaneously had me laughing at how they goaded each other. They are so entertaining, and this novella was an all around, spicy good time!

“Are you going to fuck me in this church on the night of your savior’s birth?”

ugh, hello to the worst book of 2021.

I have a huge range of negative thoughts on this book, so lets start with the positive
1) The story by Theodora Taylor- sweet, fun and smutty with an interesting storyline

The negative
1) during this collection there was MULTIPLE occasions of sexual harassment, sexual assault and no consent. I did not find this hot. (There is a difference between consensual non consent but a lot of the time it was simply no consent). In one story the male character literally says " I don’t need your consent to have you, to have what I want…", LITERALLY no thanks. I found a lot of these scenes uncomfortable to read.
2) multiple stories had sexist elements to them- one time the male literally goes 'seeing you think is hot, seeing you use your brain is hot' hmmm okay then.
3) this was marketed as Christmas smut and yet I literally got no Christmas vibes. I expected cosy love by the fire, sucking on candy canes and climbing on Santas chimney. What I got was a random Christmas party and poorly written smut
4) poorly written smut- now as this was a short story collection of purely smut and romance I did not expect every story to be stunning but I literally got so bored of the same phrases being repeated and repeated.
5) the formatting and order of the stories- this is just a personal one for me but towards the end of the collection there was about 3/4 mafia/gang stories each with the same kind of storyline and it just annoyed me
6) there was not of representation ( one of the characters hinted to be bi/pan from one sentence)- there were a couple characters of colour and thats about it. for a 600 page collection you would expect there to be some types of representation, ex: disability, lgbt....

Overall I just did not enjoy this story and would honestly binge read some boyxboy (or any stories ) on Wattpad.

Christmas- with my favorite fictional book world?! It's a Christmas miracle- the perfect salaciously delicious present under the tree.

Pam Godwin treats us with a visit back to one of my favorite couples EVER- Magnus and Tinsley from Lessons in Sin, arguably one of the best contributions to the Midnight Dynasty magic. Of course, this novella is deliciously steamy, full of broody and possessive alpha swagger from our naughty priest as he seeks to protect his precious Constantine princess from the always looming threat of the maniacal Morelli machinations, this time in the form of a mysterious Christmas ball. This capitalizes on everything I loved about their original story- it's sensual but also emotionally sumptuous. What a yummy little morsel.

And Giana Darling collides two worlds in her novella- which focuses on Elena and Dante from her Anti-Heroes in Love Duet/Lombardi world, but she has them intersecting with Tiernan Morelli, her soon to be anti-hero in the upcoming Dangerous Temptation, the first of Giana's contributions to the Midnight Dynasty world. Not only is this an interesting introduction to a Morellis we know little about, but it also a welcomed visit with one of my favorite Giana couples in their post-HEA bliss. We're immediately consumed back into the passionate intensity of this magnetic couple and are reminded yet again how deeply their epic love story had the power to move mountains- and heal their hearts. And also Dante continues to be so damn yummy. If I wasn't already excited about Tiernan story, this would do the trick (but I'm already ravenous for it).

I can not WAIT to dig into the rest of these shorts- especially some of the authors that I adore (like Sam Mariano) whose foray into the Midnight Dynasty world is still a bit of a mystery- are these contained shorts or tantalizing appetizers of full-length stories we'll see in the future. Either way, this world and these authors is truly the perfect Christmas treat. I'm more than jolly for this decadent assortment of some of dark romance's finest authors!

Onky read one story from theodora Taylor and I'm in love. Hopefully, Grant and Neisha's story will come out soon
