I didn’t love it as much as the first book which was a 5* read for me, I missed Elspeth and Rayvn as a lot of focus was on other characters.
But I loved the world and the ending, and I’m super pleased it was a duology and didn’t drag on for 5 books.

I didn’t think I was as invested in this book as I was, couldn’t put it down. Fast paced but loved all the foreshadowing and when the pieces all finally clicked together it was satisfying, surprising yet well woven so you didn’t see it until it was upon you. I really enjoyed the characters, relationships and learning more about the Nightmare.

Man I just wish this had been more than two books, or that each book would’ve been at least 600+ pages

It's a rare second book that's so much better.

“I know what I know, my secrets are deep, but long have I kept them, and long will they keep.”

Holy. This duology was absolutely fantastic. I felt every possible emotion during the last 100 pages of the book. In the first book we had one POV. In this book, we had three- and it was perfection. The writing is just so freaking good imo. There was some twists that I definitely saw coming. But then there were some big ones that had be audibly gasping “oh no oh no oh no”. Absolutely beautiful character development. I’m personally a huge fan of the little rhymes. A new romance develops. Similar to the first book, there’s little spice but sooo much plot. 10/10 would definitely recommend to anyone who likes fantasy but wants easy world building and a side of romance.
