Kudos to all who review this book. It's scope is vast and I don't even know where to start. I will say that it engaged in a way few books I encounter do, and I was wildly stimulated by.... all of it.
Oh, and the cover is dazzling, and perfect. AND the cast who read the audio was great.

Wow! What a fantastic voyage! Read A Visit from the Goon Squad first (not necessary, but a darn good read). Multiple perspectives, multiple approaches, and an absolute delight...unless you're a Mark Zuckerberg or Elon Musk...but then it's doubtful you're literate. Ha!

I dont like to write review thoughts so far post read. But there were some fascinating characters parsed out here, deserving of more depth. The ending perspective was not the son who wrote the book we read in a circular narrative, but the middle child who disappeared between lines, the eventual conspiracist and retired agent who reminisces a baseball pitch that gave him substance. The Candy House is such a smorgasboard of character that the rich taste of it still lingers, supposedly its a sequel to The Goonbags, so perhaps I’ll come across it again to write of more depth

All I can think finishing The Candy House is that Jennifer Egan is a Godd*mn Motherf*cking genius. Admittedly it seemed like an impossible task, coming up with a sequel to her 2010 smash hit, A Visit From the Goon Squad. She wrote this book like her pen never left the paper during the 12 years between the two books. Almost every character I can remember from Goon Squad is a part of this book, as well as many new characters related to the Goon Squad universe. She connects a hundred characters in all of these surprising and interesting ways. There is no writing I’ve ever read that is funnier or sadder than that of Jennifer Egan.
