While there were several quotes I found thought provoking. The idea behind the book (hidden well within a very dry and boring story) I can get behind. Reading this as an adult validated the teen in me that could not get through it. The concept of life being void of meaningful connection to ourselves and others in a world too distracted and apathetic towards knowledge and emotion rings true but if you did not already know that is what the book is trying to get across I don’t know that it would portray this message at all.

I read this book years ago in school, and I’m shocked how much of it I forgot. I love Ray Bradbury’s style of writing and the quirky sci-fi elements - the descriptions of the parlor walls and the jet cars and the Hound and all the quirky inventions just gives this book a certain charm. The only thing I struggled with was the pacing, but not entirely in a bad way. You believe the story is going one way, and it goes another in a sense. Not a groundbreaking ending, but certainly not how I expected it all to end. Still, this is a beautiful, important story that I hope continues being taught for years to come.

Deep, unsettling and emotional. Bradbury knows how to use his words.

A page-turning classic and Bradbury's love letter to books. The 50th anniversary edition has the afterword, coda, and an interview. These reveal Bradbury's brand of literature fundamentalism to be a more narrow conception of culture & art than I hold (and also some naive optimism for America). The pacing of the book is extremely fast and it works fine. Nothing overstays its welcome and the characters are alive. He gets poetic sometimes. It's storytelling, not realism.
