3.5 stars rounded up - This is my first proper fantasy read and it is a very slow-burn. For the first 25%-50%, it barely seemed to really go anywhere and I almost got bored in places. The dialogue in the first half was quite blunt and vague but it did seem to pick up throughout the rest. Fryer’s character did annoy me in places, but overall, I did enjoy the storyline and the ending. Have higher hopes for the next in the series!
