yaay a satisfying ending :) it was really bold to introduce an entirely new character to be the POV for the last book in a series but it worked out really well i thought. a good character. everything all tied up in the end :) sad to finish, these were a lot of fun. it is sad that not a single one of these had a female POV. Eddis and Attolia were great but compared to the towering amount of male characters it doesn't seem great. but it is forgiveable. finally someone was gay in this one. so that's nice lol.

I first read The Thief nearly twenty years ago. I've enjoyed each new book, each new character, each new view of Eugenides. I admittedly went into this book a little timidly. I wasn't ready to say goodbye. I also wasn't ready for a "serious" fantasy ending, which is to say everybody dies. I rarely enjoy that and in 2020 it's even more painful.
Here's my spoiler. It's a happy ending. Each loose end for our beloved cast of POV characters comes gently to rest in a place we can feel at peace with. I literally cried tears of joy. Many thanks to Turner for yet another brilliant trip into the world of the thief, and for letting us have a brilliant, joyful end for our reluctant hero.

Such a satisfying conclusion to the story! This series was amazing from beginning to end and Return of the Thief has truly cemented it as one of my favorite series of all time

Wow finally came to the end of the journey.
Honestly I didn't LOVE it. The amount of tying up strings and resolving it had to do made it inevitably less good of a complete story and less enthralling. But good!
