WHAT A WAY TO GO😭😭😭💖💖💖

Oh my god. Oh my god. What a fhckjng book!

This book was everything I dared hope for and more. As with every series finale, I went into this book with a little trepidation because I have loved this world for so long and all I can say is what an ending! I am so sad that this is the end of the road but I have enjoyed the journey immensely over the past 14 years. Everyone READ THIS SERIES!

I keep accidentally calling this book Return of the King, but I might as well, because it's just as epic.
I didn't write a review right away because I wanted to let this one stew a little bit before letting it go, but now I find I don't have much to say: it was completely satisfactory, I liked it a lot, it was considerably happier than I thought it was going to be despite all the

I'll miss this universe, I went straight on to read Moira's pen and reblogging all the art I could find.

I liked the plot of this a lot but it felt like it did kind of a disservice to some its characters, like it kind of slapped a happy ending onto Irene and Eugenides with a very plastic: and they're pregnant with twins! a boy AND a girl! resolution. I honestly don't know why that felt so counterfeit (people actually have twins, Maddie, it's a thing that happens) but it really, really did. It felt like a book ending, a sanitized account, the one you'd tell in the children's bedtime version of this story, which obviously means that it didn't match any of the rest of it. Also, I didn't love that it was Pheris' account and yet Pheris' future past the King of Attolia's legend was so clearly unimportant because, y'know, by that point it wasn't? You care about him on his own. The formation of the three kingdoms becoming one was completely satisfying, at least for me, but the rest of it... wasn't.
