I'm gonna cry I loved it so much

I completely fell in love with these stories and these characters. I'm so sad it's over. Looking forward to the screen adaptation. Hopefully they don't ruin it.

Once again I have come to the end of this series and I am so sad I think I am going to cry. I have been in terrible reading slump, I decided to reread this series because I knew it would pull me out of my reading slump and it really did. I wake up early in the morning with the sole aim of reading the books in this series. I don't know any other book that would make me do it. I even decided to take it slow because I didn't want to finish this series but alas, I still finished it.

I don't know if I have the words to adequately describe this series. Meghan Whalen Turner created a beautiful world with amazing characters. My favorite character in this series is Gen . Just like Kamet said, it's impossible to adequately describe Gen. He is funny, sarcastic with a razor tongue. He is also intelligent, cunning and brave. It's impossible not to love him, he is a very complex character with his good side and his bad side, he was by no means perfect but I loved him anyway.

And Next we have Attolia, she could have easily been the villian of this series after she cut off Gen's hand but instead that event set off other chains of events that changed the course of everyone's life. We get to discover that Attolia was a beautiful character with her flaws, weaknesses and strength. I loved the romance between her and Gen, it was never sappy just absolutely beautiful and mature. Attolia and Gen were evenly matched.

And then we get to Sophos, It was a joy to see him grow from the timid boy we met in the first book to be a strong king. His character arc was simply amazing.

Eddis, a strong queen in every sense of the word. She has been a force to be reckoned with since the very first time we met in the first book. Who would have thought that Eddis and Attolia would end becoming friends considering how they were at each other's throats in the second book. Their friendship was simply the best, infact, the friendship between the four monarchs, Gen, Attolia Sophos and Eddis was simply the best.

This book was a beautiful conclusion to this series. It was filled with funny, heartwarming and heartbreaking moments. The funniest part in this book was when Gen almost killed the Pent Ambassador for daring to kiss Attolia. Trust Gen to do something crazy and dramatic. And he did same thing again when he chased Nahusheresh with his sword into the enemy camp screaming, I nearly died laughing. Gen is definitely a very crazy character.
The most heartbreaking moment for me was after the war when Attolia went searching for Gen among the dead. She was basically going crazy and when she found Gen not dead but lying very still because he didn't want to wake up and deal with the fact that his father was lying dead beside him. It was so heartbreaking.

I made a pact with myself to try to reread this series every year and I intend to keep it. God Forbid that I ever get tired of rereading this series because that would be really depressing. I think I would probably cry when I wake up tomorrow and have to deal with the fact that I don't have this series to look forward to. This series pulled me out of reading slump only to put me right back in another one because what the hell will I read after this.

Original review (November 2020)

I can't believe that I have come to the end of this series. What do I do with my life now. I woke up every morning, for the past ten days with the ultimate goal of finishing this series and now I don't know what to do next.

I don't read a lot of fantasy books because I can't stand some of the crappy world building out there. But this entire series was just perfect. Megan Whalen Turner created a beautiful world. So good, that I am very reluctant to leave it behind.

I never knew it was possible to love characters in a book this much. The characters were strong, amazing and memorable and I don't think I will forget them. I absolutely loved Gen even the mention of his name in a sentence makes me smile. Gen was cunning, stubborn, very intelligent and I absolutely adored him and I don't think I have enough words to describe how amazing he is. He was my favorite character in the series. I think Gen is the best character ever created in fiction and I doubt that I will ever be proved wrong. I loved Attolia, she was the very definition of a strong woman. There could not have been a better match for Gen, than Attolia. Eddis and Sophos were equally amazing characters.
So many people have followed this series for the past twenty years and for good reason. It's just that amazing. I want to reread this series over and over again until I am tired of it( which I am not sure will ever happen) because I don't want to leave this world and it's amazing characters behind.

Finally, thank you Megan Whalen Turner for creating this masterpiece and I would absolutely read anything you ever write. And, for people who haven't read this series, don't overthink just read it and I promise, it will be worth it.
I don't know why I can't get this quote out of my head, " you will fall, as you kind always fall when you god let's you go".

Each book has its own delights but the narrator of this one was particularly endearing to me. It’s also nice seeing Gen get nice things.

I have read the Thief books since Megan Whalen Turner first published the Thief. Unlike many other series I've read and loved--the Wheel of Time, the Stormlight Archive, the Dresden Files, Harry Potter--this was released to little acclaim. Indeed, like Eugenides, these books slide beneath the surface until you come face to face with them at the end.

Eugenides is my favorite character in all literature. And, after a few books that focus more on others (A Conspiracy of Kings and Thick as Thieves) it's _very_ good to have more Eugenides. And, as always, we are surprised be him. We're too used to looking for what we expect. Eugenides isn't what we expect, even though we know to expect something else. But it's all there before our eyes, if only we had eyes to see. Eugenides is not what we expect from a hero or protagonist, either: he cries, he whines, he avoids responsibility, he's wrong, and--most importantly--he shows genuine faith.

Although I hate to see the close of this series I've read since I was a child, and I hate to see the friends we lose along the way, it is a fitting conclusion and now I want to re-read the whole thing.

Waiting for Return of the Thief was the longest two years of my life! But the wait finally came to the end and I found myself in the possession of the perfect finale to a perfect series. Wow, Turner. What an emotional rollercoaster! I cried...happy tears and sad tears, laughed, grinned like an idiot, and almost had several heart attacks! Sometimes I just wanted to strangle Eugenides and other times I wanted to give him a big hug!!

That ending. Wow. It was absolutely perfect! And Irene's and Eugenides's twins!!! Ohhhh my heart melted, I literally could not stop smiling! It was so sweet. Also that end dancing scene with Eugenides's entire court dancing on the roof....wow. I have no words for this ending. All I can say is that it was perfect.

Pheris was such an interesting character to have as first person! I will admit, I was a little bit skeptical at first but it grew on me. I ended up really liking it

Every time I reread a book in The Queen's Thief series I find some new detail that I never noticed before. I'm already looking forward to rereading Return of the Thief so I can catch more details and anything I missed.
