A very dark view of human nature that is even more terrifying for how familiar it is. For those that know me, it is hard to make me cringe and I did through several points of this book. I went into this book thinking that the structure would be kinda gimmicky (and I guess it is) except that it reveals levels and depth I wasn't expecting. The horror is man-made and the beauty is quite subtle, but definitely worth the read. But fair warning: this is not for the faint of heart. If you get through the short story "Guts" you will make it, but Palahniuk here doesn't slowly guide you in: he throws you into the deep end.
Have fun!

sick, but in an intriguing, guilty way....

Haunted is a collection of short stories about f***ed up things happening to terrible people.
It's as ingenious as it is disturbing. It is not a 'feel-good read'.

A-yup. I waited exactly the perfect amount of time between my first read and this reread to be able to relive the experience all over again. I'm thoroughly, painfully, wonderfully disgusted by and in love with this book for more reasons than I care to explain in this moment. Just read it for yourself and see what rabbit hole it will drag you down.

Some of the stories were okay, but the novel as a whole is disgustingly gimmicky. Very disappointing.

Typically vivd, gortesque, intriguing, twisted Palahniuk.

I couldn't get past the first gruesome story involving the pool. He's really one-upped himself this time on the over the top stories.
